Barry Bonds signs with Yankees!
The New York Yankees have pulled out all the stops to win this season and have signed Barry Bonds to act as their DH. This comes on the heels of Jason Giambi being diagnosed with another stomach tumour (his first one was in 2004). Bonds is expected to practice with their Florida State League team for a couple of weeks before being called up to the majors. The terms of his contract are currently unavailable.

A Crushing Blow to Yao Ming and the Rockets The future of the Houston Rockets is back on spin cycle. The player some believe plays like Bill Walton is now threatening to have a career like ... Bill Walton.

There's no way the Rockets can overcome this. If they make it to the playoffs, they'll never make it past the first round. They have a grueling schedule coming up in March. You should of heard the local sports radio chatter here in Houston. I thought I was listening to someone's funeral on Sports Radio 610 AM
The Epic of Craig Biggio You ever go to a movie, it' s pretty good for about an hour and a half but then the story is over but it's like the director can't find the ending so it goes on for another half-hour looking for some way to tie things together? That's kind of Biggio's career; it was over, and then it went on for quite awhile.

2 men shot in Houston's Reliant Stadium parking lot after the US and Mexico play to a thrilling 2-2 draw. In a sick sort of way, is it possible this shooting is good for soccer in America? This "friendly" was played before 70,103 fans and the nosie was so loud the players couldn't communicate with each other or hear the official's whistle.

Jim Brown calls out Tiger Woods I thought that Tiger handled this very well. Apparently Jim Brown thinks Tiger should have called in Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Baylor Ends 39-Year Absence from AP Poll Baylor's mens basketball team has cracked the AP top 25 for the first time since Feb. 11, 1969, starting 15-2 only five years after the disastrous and criminal Dave Bliss era. The long AP drought sent me fishing for historic data on other NCAA teams that have gone unranked for decades. I couldn't find it for hoops, but the AP Poll Archive has the numbers for football. My alma mater has been absent from the last 739 AP football polls, a 48-year cold streak.

Patriots are perfect 16-0 with a comeback win against the New York Giants, overcoming a 12 point third-quarter deficit. Tom Brady's 50 touchdown passes in a season breaks Peyton Manning's record; Randy Moss' 23 touchdown catches in a season breaks Jerry Rice's record.

post dump i posted a link on December 6th that was deleted. It was about Barry Bonds finally having to show up in federal court in San Francisco. And low and behold, i turn on my trusty spo-fi this morning and there's a post from rcade about Michael Vick getting sentenced. I see no difference in either post. So why was mine deleted? I've had links deleted before but i thought this would have been a good discussion. Surely, both the Vick link and the Bonds link are comparable. My bad, i guess.

Man, when i read that headline, i called my boss before I read the article since we're both baseball nuts here in Houston. After I got off the phone, I opened the article and realised i had been spoofed. Obiviously, i had to call my boss back and changed my story. Nice one, Grum!!
