I want my MTV So I've pretty much given up on spofi in favor of deadspin- the posts typically have *something* interesting or funny to say that I'm not getting from espn (which maybe a third of the FPPs do here these days) and the comments are closed to morons. That said... I'd way prefer to read the-spofi-that-was over deadspin- less corporate (aka fewer ads), more community-oriented, etc. (sigh). I'm not sure where this is going exactly, except, dammit, I want my old spofi back, and I'm feeling a little guilty about cheating on spofi with deadspin. Thoughts...?

Reliving near misses Can any of you guys think of a time where your team was a game, drive, play, call, shot, pitch, out, run, or goal away from making a championship, winning a championship, or in a rivalry game?

1980-something. Maybe '82. Orange bowl. Huskers-Miami. Our T.O. (Tom Osborne) going for 2 to win the game and the National Championship outright, rather than the almost sure thing extra point, and sharing it with Miami. (No o.t. in those days.) Didn't make it. Was sad for years until we went back down there in '94 and won!
Steelers Won Super Bowl XL Pittsburgh won its 5th Super Bowl in team history by beating Seattle 21- 10. What a game!

Pittsburgh's Road to the Super Bowl Few teams have taken a longer route to the Super Bowl than the Bus-driven Pittsburgh Steelers, whose 34-17 victory over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship makes them the first team since the 1985 New England Patriots to win three road games to reach the bowl.

Happy, happy, and more happy!! Does anybody know where I can get one of those cool hats like Bettis was wearing? Not the champions one, but the one with the streaks (?) on it. Can't seem to find one, even at the Steelers official web site. Did I mention?...Happy, happy, & happy. Go Steelers!
Happy Veterans' Day To all vets, whether you're as famous as Tillman or an everyday grunt, Good Luck and Godspeed. Proud Navy vet here (1986 - 1992), and prouder still of my brothers and sisters in uniform, past , present and future. Warning: if you're looking for a happy-go-lucky article, this one might not be for you.

Warning! Warning! Warning! It's another story about Terrell Owens being a jackass. Consider yourself forewarned.

Ooooh! Chico!!! I was still giggling over the "sun shines out of his ass" comment, and then you come up with the ten-cent head one. Priceless. BTW, I couldn't agree more. I hope T.O. will not go away mad, but just go away. Sorry I don't know how to do the highlight thing.

Ban Hammer Strikes Bike Racer Now that SportsFilter is beginning to attract professional athletes such as pitcher Eric Knott, please take heed: You can be suspended from your sport for online postings, as endurance bike racer Jeff Kerkove just learned. (Via number 2)

Terrell Owens pays Jesus the ultimate compliment... of course, the Son of God never tried to get an already mammoth contract restructured for his monetary benefit, or threatened to bolt town after one year of a seven year deal. So, I guess T.O. isn't God, just God-like.

London's cabal? "Tony Blair and other people from the London committee did some unfair steps like getting some special meetings with some IOC members and organizing everything just to lobby again. That's against the rules of the IOC," he said.
