Police Examine Barton's Backside. I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. EPL fans will get it. I know I'm on a roll, but don't kill the messenger. I don't make the news. I just post it. btw, did anyone see the incident?

Red Sox implosion: Not as much fun as a Yankees breakdown would be. But it's a lot of fun. (From King Kaufman at Salon -- Just click through the damn ad!)

I hesitated to post this, considering the spate of NYY and BOS FPPs lately and the fact that this has a high potential to devolve into a shoutfest. But, I think Kaufman hits on something here that sums up how many of us non-Red Sox, non-Yankees fans feel about the Red Sox lately. I actually considered myself to be a bit of a Red Sox fan -- I was in law school in the Boston area from 1999-2002 and went to quite a few games (back when it was possible to get tickets) and was even not too bitter to see them win the World Series over my favorite team in 2004 (which I was fortunate enough to witness in person). But after the World Series win, I found myself liking them less and less, for reasons Kaufman explores in this article (the hatefulness of the Boston media, the morphing of some of their fans into "junior Yankees fans", etc.) and not just because they beat the Cardinals. I'm curious whether other flyover country folks or left coasters feel the same way. posted by holden at 5:11 PM CDT on August 31 You are not a true fan!!!!!!!!!!! You can't have two favorite teams, maybe a team you hate less then the rest. I know that as a DIE hard GIANTS fan i hate the Angels for taking the 2002 World Series. I am not a bit of a fan because i have visited Disnyland a few times or have family there. Either you are a fan or not BOTTOMLINE
Rice To Retire With 49ers Next Week. I like the move to sign a contract with San Francisco and then immediately retire. Somehow the idea of him retiring from any other team just wouldn't seem right. Just as I'm sure he'll be presented as a Niner when he goes into the Hall of Fame. The halftime honors in Nov is a nice touch. I'm not an SF fan, but I'll still miss watching him play.

Greatest of all time. Yes. But should have retired 3 to 4 years ago. Wasn't a fan though. Thought he was kinda of an egotistic. That Monday night game at home against the Lions comes to mind, jumping up and down like a school girl after Herman Moore came one reception short of leading in receptions. Then boasting about his "victory" lead. Please. If he was egotistic then what is T.O.? or Chad johnson? Being excited about keeping a record or someone else not breaking it is part of he game. Don't bad mouth the GREATEST of all time because of one incident.
College Football Rankings - Week 1 Are you ready for some college football? The polls are out. I'm very surprised that Oklahoma is still #5 after having their quarterback tossed for the season.

Notre Dame is the clear #1 team, they returned 16 starters from a VERY good team last season. With Charlie Weiss at the helm they will only get better. Ohio State in my opnion is not #1 and Texas should not be #2 just because they won the Rose Bowl. Remember they lost Vince Young, the guy that won that game and most of the rest for Texas last year. Mark my words Notre Dame is #1 and will be after they win the National Championship this season. I don't even think the BCS can mess this one up.
