End of an era for Houston Baseball One of the original Killer B's,Jeff Bagwell retires due to his well documented shoulder problem. Is he a future Hall of Fame inductee?

posted by mjkredliner at 09:10 PM on December 17

Bagwell is the greatest Astro in the history of the Houston Astros. I tip my cap to a man with such class and dedication as Jeff gave to the organization. It is wrong what the organization did to him last year. If it wasn't for Bags and Biggio, the Astros would still be half filling the Astrodome. Congratulations to the man, Jeffery Bagwell.

Yankees Ink Pettitte To One-Year Deal One year, $16 Million, with an option for 2008. Could this mean Roger Clemens will be back in pinstripes too?

posted by dyams at 08:46 PM on December 09

good riddance for the astros organization. i'm very happy to hear he left finally. we could find a starting picture with his record for a lot less money. the yankees could spend a billion dollars a year. they will never ever be the dominant team they used to be.

From Bad to Worse for Maurice Clarett The ex-Ohio State running back was arrested early this morning after a traffic stop. After struggling with officers, Clarett, who is already awaiting trial on robbery charges, was hit with the stun gun, which was ineffective, because he was wearing a bulletpfoof vest. After he was Maced, it still took "several officers" to subdue and cuff Clarett, who was carrying four loaded weapons in his SUV.

Al and Bobby Unser charged with resisting arrest and obstructing officers "Officer, do you know who i am?"

Maurice Clarett used the 'Do you know who I am?' line and it did him no good either.

Michael Young, best SS in the majors? Jeter and Tejada get more ink, but Young has at least as much respect among his peers. Plus, he's a 'good guy'. Opinions?

Does White think he's back at USC where he can do whatever the hell he wants? He's lucky he got drafted and he's acting like this. Next thing you know Maurice Clarett will be arrested on gun charges and out of the NFL for good. What is this world coming to?

You can cut the anticipation for this fight with a knife. Not since DeLaHoya/Vargas. Ali/Foreman, has there been this much hype for a boxing match. I'm counting down the seconds to this War.......Who's fighting again?

Big Ben the newest Chicago Bull? He wasn't happy with the Pistons initial offer. So Wallace will sign with the Bulls for $52 Mill over 4 years. True Hoop has a good recap of how the story could develop. Still waiting for reaction from Blog-a-Bull.

Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest Four-time world champion, and odds favorite, (1/3), Takeru Kobayashi of Japan will once again defend his title against top eaters from around the globe. The tough competition includes Eric "Badlands" Booker, (9/5), Oleg Zhornitsky, (4/1), and "Hungry" Charles Hardy, (7/1), while the 'field' is represented by notables Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, US record holder, Joey Chestnut and 60 year-old Rich LeFevre and his wife, Carlene LeFevre. Santioned by the International Federation of Competitive Eating it will, of course, meet their safety standards.
