It was between the Dolphins and Bills to play the Giants, and once again the small market team looses

Bolts zap Schottenheimer. It was inevitable. I thought it would happen sooner. With the level of talent on that team, there's no longer an excuse not to win it all. But did they wait too long? Are all the best candidates for the job already taken?

Pitchers and Catchers Report In honor of the first players to report to Major League Baseball spring training today -- the Yankees and Nationals -- Keith Olbermann last night was given the first Topps pack of 2007 to open: "Johnny Damon, the first player out of the first pack of the first baseball cards of 2007. Good luck to him and all who sail on him."

Tiki Barber joins NBC. While Barber's NFL career may have come to an end, his media career is just beginning.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 01:54 PM on February 13

You gotta respect how he went about this. Tiki's been real up front about retiring and his intentions to go into broadcasting. He's certainly better spoken than many other former player turned broadcasters (Shannon Sharp, Rich Gannon to name a few)

Sticking it to Sidney It's tough to take Montreal's complaints about Sid the Kid's diving seriously when lunkhead Aaron Downey's delivering the message. By sportsfilter's own wfrazerjr.

Buffalo Bills: Africa's Four-Time Super Bowl Champs Now that every sports champion dons special T-shirts and ballcaps after the game, ever wonder what happens to the swag produced for the losers? The NFL ships it to developing nations in Africa and elsewhere. (Note: One Super Bowl team is jinxed by the article's photo.)

AS a bills season ticket holder, 4 time straight loser and all i still love 'em! They just raised their ticket prices by 12 percent (i believe thats the correct amount), and its still the lowest in the league!!! Beat that!!! LETS GO BUF-A-LO!!!!, maybe next year we can win the big game, and someone elses shirts will go to africa.... ( i can dream right?)

Evolution of the NHL Goaltenders were the first to benefit from a major rule change. Prior to the 1917-18 season, the rules were changed to allow goaltenders to fall to the ice to make a save. Previously they had been penalized for such action. Since then, most rule changes were implemented to increase scoring.

Quoting the article: "The fact is, scoring goes up, and scoring goes down. When the players figure out a set of rules, historically the NHL has stepped in to open things up and keep the game fresh. Will the players eventually figure these rules out? Probably. : That probably says it best!!

When does a pro sports league not follow its own rules? Apparently when hockey refs assume a puck crossed the goal line, even thought the rules require "visible evidence" (e.g., actually SEEING the puck go across the line) to award a goal and overturn a "No Goal" call that was made on the ice. The visiting Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Minnesota Wild last night when a phantom goal was awarded in overtime to the home team. The game was important for the Jackets, who trailed Minnesota by 7 points going into last night's game for the last playoff spot in the conference. Yes, I'm a Jackets fan, but I'd feel bad for any team that had this happen to them.

LaDainian Tomlinson is Sportsman of the Year. His teammates idolize him. He respects his profession. He cares about his community. Oh, yeah, and he's a touchdown-scoring machine. LaDainian Tomlinson is a worthy Sportsman in every sense of the word.

Congrats to LT, I had the chance to see him play this season when the Chargers came to Buffalo, he ran all over us. The guys incredible, sees gaps that dont exist. On a side note, he's LaDainian, the article said his wifes name was LaTorsha, can we expect LaTouchdown for the firstborn??

The NHL to realign? The NHL has been trying for weeks to tinker with its schedule configuration, but is now considering a significant overhaul of the face of the league that includes realignment and a reduction in the number of divisions from six to four.

somehow by eliminating Pittsburgh and Edmonton, for example, you would drastically shore up the finances of say the 4 or 5 next most desperate franchises (BUF, CAL, OTT, MON) I dont know about the other teams listed above, but living in Buffalo, I can tell you every single home Sabres game has sold out this year.

'Scuse me while I whip this out... Florida Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis arrested on suspicion of DUI after cops observe him get out of his car and urinate in the street in Miami. Personally, I'd have held off on drunken shenanigans until after I'd finished with my contract negotiations. Then again, that's just me.
