Her Pride Was Really Hurt I wonder if Michelle Wie would have gotten sick if she was about to make the cut? Wie's latest failed attempt to make the cut in a men's event was cut short when she "withdrew" after nine holes of her second round with "heat exhaustion." "Withdrew" is synonymous with "quit." "Heat exhaustion" is synonymous with "tired of getting my ass kicked and I really don't want to play anymore." I am no doctor, but I bet she would have felt fine if she was about to make the cut.

Is Jack really done for good? No more Golden Bear? The decision to skip The Memorial has many in the golf world thinking Jack Nicklaus is really serious about this retirement thing. Even though he hasn't said his playing days are 100 percent over, the Golden Bear has no plans to play in any tour event again and has said he's perfectly OK with not playing competitively at this stage in his life.

New sheriff in town. Two OT's. Five games decided by five points or less. Two games decided by one point. Mavericks win the series. One for the ages.

Sorenstam out after Michelob Ultra second round Annika Sorenstam had two hours to wait after finishing play to see if the Kingsmill River Course that had frustrated her again would help keep her in the Michelob Ultra Open for the weekend by doing the same to others. With a second straight 2-over-par 73 on Friday, the top player in women's golf missed the cut for the first time since 2002. She finished in a tie for 72nd, with the top 71 players continuing into Saturday on the 6,306-yard layout.

Miss Wie should concentrate in doing well in the ladies events first. No doubt she is a talented youngster and her time will come.
