Green Light... RED LIGHT! haha go back to the beginning. While crew chief Roy McCauley argued the call - and the ensuing penalty that left Busch as the last car on the lead lap - NASCAR officials said the caution and the light closing pit road happened 2 seconds before the driver headed past the commitment line for a stop.

Column: Stewart not following own advice Tony Stewart is many things, but the Emily Post of NASCAR etiquette is most certainly not one of them... Does anyone else think a one lap penalty isn't enough?

Waltrip Buys Start for Coke 600 NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip bought his way into a starting position from Derrick Cope because he didn't qualify on time and is not in the top 35 in driver points.

It's all about sponsors. He buys his way in so he can put the sponsor's colors on the car. I remember Darrell buying his way in through Carl Long a few years back, and it's been done a few times since by others. That's how much it means to have those sponsors colors going round and round in circles. Mikey has a new team, and they're not nearly as good as his DEI team. They're also shunned by the manufacturer he drives for since he's going to Toyota next year. Personally, I wish NASCAR would give up the provisional BS. If it's not the 43 fastest cars every week (and it isn't), it ain't racing. The racing in NASCAR isn't really as good as the IRL anyway. There's where the close finishes are, and they can race wheel to wheel without nearly the amount of banging.

They were trying to pull a fast one on the rest of the field and got caught. He could have avoided the penalty by going through the pits without stopping, but he didn't even though they knew by the time he stopped the pits were closed. He deserved what he got.
