Motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel dead at 69 Immortalized in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump an Idaho canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

I grew up idolizing Evel Knievel. From playing with my toy motorcycle & E.K. doll to jumping my bicycle over objects. Acting like I was jumping over Snake River or school buses. Going to school with my E.K. metal lunch box & wishing I would grow up to do the death defying stunts he did. I even dressed up like E.K. for Halloween ( helmet, jumpsuit, & cape too.) I want to thank you for helping a kids (my) imagination run wild. RIP Mr. Knievel

Monday's Great Flag Save It was a typical 4th of July in 1976, until Rick Monday saved an American flag from an immediate burning. By the way, Happy Independence Day Sports Filter.

A Flag may be a flimsy bit of cloth, or a beautiful banner of silk. It's intristic value may be trifling or great; but its real value is beyond price, for it is a precious symbol of all that we and our forefathers have worked, lived, and died for-- a free Nation of free men and women, true to the faith of the past, devoted to the ideals and practice of Justice, Freedom and Democracy.

Holyfield begining yet another comeback

"dimenished skills and poor performance" is the reason he lost his boxing license in NY. I think he's done and should hang up the gloves for good. He don't need the money and this will only ruin his name and tarnish his great career, if he hasn't done so already.

Lamar Odom's infant son dies Words cannot express how sorry I am. My thoughts and prayers are out there for Lamar and his family.

As a father of 4 wonderful children, I could never imagine having to go through what the Odoms are now having to deal with. I can only offer my deepest sympathy and your family is in our prayers. God rest his little soul and God Bless the family.

Classic a Good Show for Baseball Around the World, especially in Latin American Countries, where Baseball has become a National Passion, the New Tournament had a compelling name before the first pitch was thrown. If you can only set up your TiVo for one game on Tuesday, forget Mexico-U.S. The game to watch on the first day of baseball's version of March Madness (those Pool A games from Tokyo were all night games, at least in the U.S.) is Venezuela vs. the Dominican Republic. The matchup of Johan Santana vs. Albert Pujols, Miguel Tejada and David Ortiz, has been greatly anticipated since the brackets were announced in December.

It would be a major embarrassment if the USA lost this thing. Well unfortunately the US is not going to win this thing. Have you seen the roster for the Dominican Republic? WOW, they are stacked, and the pitching staff is above average. I just don't believe any other team has the firepower that D.R. has. Then again, I have had a few to drink. CHEERS TO ALL AND BOTTOMS UP!!!!!

I am an avid baseball fan and have been for years. I'm very excited about the potential for the WBC to gain in popularity with those who don't otherwise know the game, as well as prospects for MLB. With this steroid scandel still unfolding, baseball can use all the help it can get. WBC is for the fans so the owners can go kiss my (have a cold one on me) and enjoy the games!!!

49ers Win!!! San Francisco's "victory" over the Oakland Raiders on Friday, in a coin toss to determine the sixth and seventh overall choices in the draft, still felt pretty important to 49ers officials.

hey Bsquared you have a point there, however Oakland needs a lot more than a linebacker, like maybe a reliable QB.
