I think Capello is more relieved, than concerned. Then again, Capello is not my kind of manager...and Beckham is a decent player, not great. Capello has many options...too bad one of them isn't stepping away from managing the team.

I like Napier cause he's trying to get a medal in a real sport...White sucks for sooooo many reasons, one of which is the "sport" he competes in.
Teachers are just as good as soldiers...currently, teachers are much more important. Perhaps they can teach our young people not to volunteer to fight in unnecessary wars.

I'm glad he's out...i never liked him. Still don't... Manchester City has become one of my favourite teams now... I mean, i always liked them...but when Hughes came over they went down my list of favourite teams.
I think my list goes like this now...regarding English teams, that is.
1. Aston Villa 2. Southampton 3. Leeds 4. Manchester City 5. Fulham 6. Arsenal
I think thats the current list now...not that anyone cares.

JJ, i somewhat agree with SOME of your comment... But only about 5%...
I think its a nice, perhaps even classy gesture by a club in any sport.
Every fan assesses their fandom according to economic principals (as you put it). Unless of course you have money to throw away, these days especially many people are assessing many things they didn't used to, i'm sure...
For a club, any club it is almost always about money isn't it? For the owners i mean. Its always the bottom line i would think; money brings in good players, pays their salaries, makes improvements to stadiums, etc...
I'm thinking that the people that made this decision made it to show that they appreciate their fans and feel as badly as they do after such a game. Its a good way, i think to share in the misery that was a 9-1 thrashing.

I can't watch any American sports, precisely because of the commercials as mentioned above...its ridiculous to the point of being unwatchable. Perhaps if i could see a 60 minute football game in under 2-2.5 hours i might get interested again. But its just too damn much!! A 60 minute game that takes over 3 sometimes 4 hours?! Give me a flippin' break!!
Same with baseball...pitching changes, batters calling timeout, warmups every half inning. Basketbal, same shit...each team has HOW many timeouts?!

He's only 33-34...thats not old. I was playing some of my best soccer just 2 years ago when i was 39. Granted i wasn't playing as a pro, but i was playing against OTHER players who weren't either between the ages of 18 and 40. I was the fastest guy on the pitch, believe it or not... :P I was covered by 2 defenseman as a minimum most games.
Beckham, being a pro with all that training and physical fitness can surely go on until he's 40 or more. Especially in the MLS...coming back from this will be simple. Coming back in time for the World Cup may be more difficult...
