You can Throw all the stats you want at this aruguement.. Morneau emerged as the leader of the Twins. He indded deserves this award. Mauer will get his MVP award soon enough. And you know, Jeter might win one again, down the road . So enough wit the "Jeter was robbed"

I was shocked that Morneau won cause I thought that Jeter would be "crowned" "King of the World" For the first time in a long time the voter got it right. Morneau was was indeed the MVP of his Team and and of the League. He carried the Twins when Mauer and Santana didnt, I called this along time ago, and people thought I was nuts!

Smudge Gate is that one little "story" that is being used by FOX and ESPN to create some excitement in the Yankee/Red Sox less World Serious! You knew that they would have found something. Kenny Rogers actually did them a favor.

Pine tar or No Pine Tar, Kenny Rogers is an above average pitcher that tends to be very streaky. So if he gets racked next time out it may not be the lack of pine tar or other "help."

The Twins just Didnt have what it took to win the series. Everybody was worried about the pitching and it really wasnt the pitching that let them down. Johan did his job that day and So did Boof. Radke could have had a win if only had the offence broken through, The Twins are going to go far with the group they half. Too much has been made of Torii's missed line drive. Its how he plays the game. This team wont have too many change next year I am really looking forward.

Lets face it the Yanks got beat. I would would rather have seen the Oakland A's or the Twins take them down. I was fully believing that the New York Yankees were going to gt beat in the playoff s

I am sad about my Twins. they had a heck of a season. The imple ran into a team that wanted it more. The Twins and Tigers come for the toughest division this year

Its going to be a fun post season AL/ Twins in 5 Detriot in 3 or Yankees in 5! ( I cant decide) Despite the talent and payroll, I dont see the Yanks as the strongest/best team NL Padres in 4 Dodgers in 5

1991 World series games six Kirby Puckett goes deep off of Charlie Liebrandt. The next game we saw the clutchiest pitching performance ever. Those two games say it all for me, when you are talking about clutch performers.

The Media sure looks stupid now! I blame any "over-coverage" directly to the Media. They need to WAIT until ALL of the facts are out! We dont know exactly what happend last night and we may never know. I just chuckled when Dan Patrick realized that he wasted 3 hours on a "non-story".

I am sorry I "high jacked the fpp. That wasnt my intent. The people i feel sorry for are the Gm's and the field managers as they try to put some decent ptiching in the game! Yes the Yanks have been pounding the Red Sox pitching, the guys the yanks are putting out there arent much better. Both pitching staffs need help! Even if the Yanks sweep, this race is far from over.

I agree with you Grum. However< Hafner is only a DH, he only s hits. Now he is a heck of a hitter, Morneau gives you the total package.
posted by daddisamm at 10:57 AM on August 19
I didnt diss Mauer, In my mind. Come to think of it give it to both guys have a shared award. Most people over look Morneau because they hear more about Mauer from the Media. Only Now is Morneau being mentioned as a possible "vote getter" The MVP should go to a guy from a big market team and.or because he made the playoffs! True Mauer should be in line for the award. My reasoning was that Morneau Is on the leaderboard in the Triplecrown stats and plays a gold glove level first base. (before you laugh at that, watch a few Twins games) I know that Big Pappi is a great player. But ALL he does is hit. He is not a complete player. The MVP of the league should be a complete player. Please dont say that I dissed Bigg Pappi just now because the Twins let him go! I was ok with the releaseback then and I still agree with the release. He hadnt had an Injury free year with the Twins and he was only a DH.

I would like to see the Red Sox pull out the division title. I stongly feel that only one team from the East will be in the play offs! The Central is much Stronger than the east. The Tigers will make it as long as there pitching holds out.. Despite of what all of the Experts say, The Twins will take the wild card. They have an awsome piching staff, especially a well rested Bull Pen that has one of the best closers going in Nathon. Clutch Hitting? As of game time last night David Ortiz ranked third in the league with the most "2 out" RBI. The two guys ahead of him? Morneau and Cuddyer of the Twins. MVP we could have a nice discussion of MVP voting between Jeter, Ortiz, and Morneau. Justin won't win but he continues his pace, he should! Sorry to ramble, but that was stuff that you wont hear on ESPN.

This discussion has been interesting. These types of promotions have been held at other stadiums both major and minor. At our local minor league park we have all sorts promotions and concerts. Yes there was a "faith night" with some christian bands playing after the game. The people who didnt want to listen to the music-didnt stay period. Some of you people tend to jump to conclusions when the word Christian is mentioned. Just a note to the people who like to point out that I cant spell-Today I really dont care. Its hot and humid, I have rash from my Chemo therapy and my pains pills have me strung out. So it wont bother me a bit if you tear apart my spelling. Go Twins!

Justin Morneau is another one who is getting the shaft because of the clut at 1st base. He was a logshot allstar either way. Another case of the smaller markets getting hosed. I was glad to see Joe Mauer make a huge jump in the voting duriing the last few weeks. Another omition that isnt mentioned much is Joe Nathon, whose only fault is a lack of a save opportunities! There I got my homey talk out of the way!

I am sorry I cant get all upset by Ozzie's use of the word. He meant it as a put down and more than likely didnt think about the homphobic nature (if there is such a thing) of the word. Quite frankly, Mariotti, has more written stuff that I found offensive than anything Ozzie has ever said. Should Ozzie be fined or suspended? I dont know. Something should be done about jounalists who throw insults from a distance and hide behind the old "freedom of speech" line. This is too much about Marrioti being made the victim here and that is not right.

At the beginning of the season, I felt that the White Sox and Ozzie would implode soemtime during the season. What you are seeing is the beginning of the end of the White Sox run. Of course, this is just my lowly opinion!

People are making such a big deal about wearing a helmet while riding on a Motorcycle. While everyday people are injured when they dont buckle their seat belts. People make stupid choices all of the time that can cause seriois injuries. I am not sticking up for big Ben, I just would like people to think about the big picture. We all know somebody who has been seriously injured when not wearing a seatbelt while driving.

Not sure what to make of this. My first thought is that this is kind of a rough spot in which to place a rookie. The kid looked like he was crying. I guess one could say that this was just Ozzie being Ozzie!

I dont know why States just dont end the discussion about searing helments. To me is no different that seat belts. We have been having the same discussion out here in the heartland. I hope and pray that Ben heals up and is able to play better than ever!

Christian is just one word of many that I mispell on a regular basis, llb. The lack of respect I speak of on spofi goes way beyond the disrespect towards Christians. I dont expect "ungustioning acceptance" of my point of view. What frustrates me are the people who have blanket assumptions of anything Christian. This is why I have cut down on some of my comments of late.

as a human being-I say "WOW" I now know why I cut down my time on SpoFi.. I still read alot, but writing comments have become a useless act. My beliefs are mine and mine alone. Its sad that one cant comment from a christain point of view without being made fun of or cut to pieces. "Respect" around SpoFi seems to be a lost word.
