I don't know what he's like as a coach, but he's about the most boring basketball announcer in history. WAY too serious, no sense of humor whatsoever. Maybe that's why Michael and Co. ran him out the first time around.
MJ probably at least respects Collins, rob, or he wouldn't have sought him out to coach after his playing career was over. I am wondering if Hornacek or some other up and coming assistant is really Paxson's goal, and Collins is going to have the reigns for a year or two until they are ready to take over.
Maybe that's why Michael and Co. ran him out the first time around. MJ had nothing to do with "running" Collins out, that was all Jerry Riensdorf's idea to make the change to Phil Jackson (which did work out). MJ had no problem with being coached by Collins and when MJ was playing for the Wizards, he even brought Collins as the head coach. I think that this move can work out since it wasn't that long ago that Collins was on the bench coaching so all we can do now is take wait and see approach.
