Tallon misses out on the good stuff....

Winning GM's in the NHL don't miss the boat on signing FA's. More dissappointment out of the Blackhawk's front office. Hey, if the Bruins can get it together quick enough to land Chara and Savard, Tallon has no excuse for his FA inactivity. I said in another post that GM's need to act quickly signing these guys. I'm pleased with getting Lalime but with other teams out there spending 5-7 Million on top notch FA's the Blackhawks look patheticly cheap as usual. Quality NHL Producers command a premium as FA's. Your in the 3rd largest market in the country. Absolutely no excuse if you aren't prepared in time other GM's certainly aren't going to wait. It remains to be seen if Tallon can turn things around in Chicago buying out Brown and Barnaby signing Lalime are only very small steps when the times call for decisive bold moves the Blackhawks and Tallon can only manage to show us why ESPN named them the "worst team in sports" ugh.........

I'm pleased with getting Lalime You're kidding, right? The guy couldn't even hold the #1 spot in St-Louis. Other than that, I feel your pain.

Yes q "that was a tongue in cheek" sarcastic reference to your comment ""Why is nobody talking about him" concerning Lalime in the current locker room rant and a further example of the desperate attempt of us Blackhawk fans to grab on to anything that could provide a sense of hope. Pathetic aren't we!

I think this might be the year for the Blackhawks... Who knows--Carolina wasn't picked to make the playoffs by many--much less win the Cup--; and the Rangers were picked to finish dead last in the NHL by SI. I have a feeling that Wirtz would unload any top players and their contracts even if the 'Hawks were in playoff contention though.

Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon found the best items already taken before he could get his checkbook out. I think Tallon knew that the first day was going to be "silly money" contracts (Savard, Kubina, etc), just like last year. There is nothing to be gained by signing some mid-level star to a top-level contract, just to show your fans you are "in the game", especially if you aren't close to making a run for the Cup. Two of the best contract signings in the NHL last year came VERY late in the off-season at reduced value: Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens this year.

Well I see Pronger not going to be wearing a Chicago Sweater. I just wish Tallon would keep his mouth shut instead of suggesting in the press he was pursuing talks with the Oilers for Pronger. More dashed hopes.......ugh.........
