Pete Rose has nothing on Robert Hoyzer: Imagine if it is was umpires placing bets on baseball games instead of a player/manager such as Rose. The Deutscher Fussball-Bund (DFB) tries to deal with one of the biggest scandals in its history. Forget what this means for the next World Cup, won't anyone think about the message this sends to the children?

Holy crap. That is really dreadful. One of the only things that keeps most umpires alive is the belief that they are being impartial. This story makes me feel sick. (yeah, I know there are much more awful things going on in the world, but those make me sick, too)

I can't say I'm surprised. There is a long standing tradition of corrupt officials in all sports. I mean, the Olympics is a frigging joke. I'd say the NBA is a frigging joke too, except the officials don't have to be bought, the fans call the fouls nightly.
