I will probably renew it, but I know that personally I haven't put as much into it as I'd planned. Some folks have been good about the checking in and cleaning stuff up and maintaining the fantasy records, but generally it hasn't been used a whole lot, so I wanna make sure it still serves a useful purpose. (If I don't renew the domain, I can still host the content on another URL.)
My suggestion would be to save yourself the bucks....we haven't really used it that much as a standalone, and if it is going to grow I think it really needs to be more integrated with the main site, whether that means it is a www.sportsfilter.com/wiki subfolder with the same layout, etc., or whatever. At the very least, this might be a good time to look at what has been done there, and re-vision what purpose a SpoFi Wiki might actually serve. Is there anything that we can actually accomplish with the wiki better than what is happening elsewhere on the Interweb? Or was this an opportunity to learn how to use one? (For me it was perhaps the latter.)
What the hell is a wiki?
A web site that has pages anyone can edit. The best known example is probably Wikipedia.
I don't understand Wiki's, as the kicking I got from Wikipedia shows. I'm still smarting from that. It's put me off the whole concept really.
Why did you get kicked from Wikipedia, squealy? I find them useful, but I've never really given any thought to contributing to one. I didn't even know a spofi one existed. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be at sportsfilter.com/wiki as smithers suggests? Or even wiki.sportsfilter.com, whatever...
Not actually kicked but I got a virtual mauling when someone here tried to get SpoFi recognised on the Wikipedia. Why? Because they're a bunch of geek wankers. That's why. Oh, and I got accused of plagiarising myself, which was blatantly ludicrous, but tell that to the Wiki cyber-police or as I know them, arseholes. Bitter? Moi?
OK, I'm not renewing the domain. The new URL is http://www.qorg.org/spofiwiki ... pantheon please update accordingly. (And if ever you'd like to move the content to spofi proper, just say the word.) Thanks for the input.
