Stackhouse Suspended for Game 5 Not surprised. The NBA has been cracking down on everything this postseason...from Reggie Evan's "shot" at Chris Kamen to this. Dallas is hit with another blow as it tries to take Game 5 and a 3-2 series lead back to Dallas.

UND to sue NCAA over it's name Here we go again. The semi-annual fight over the use of Indian names by sports teams. I lived in Grand Forks for nearly 4 years and I didn't see anything wrong with the Fighting Sioux, but then again I'm not a Native American.

As a American of Spanish heritage, I now want to be known as a Southwest European transplanted Hispanic-American. And I feel that the United States and it's Anglo-Saxon citizentry should pay restitution to my people for the lands they took away from us as well. I also want the NFL Cleveland team to change its' name. I think they are throwing my race a red herring when they say the team was named after its founder. No more Cleveland Browns. It is an insult to Hispanics. After all, you wouldn't call them the Cleveland Caucasians, would you?

Will Wie make history? Michelle Wie competes for a spot in the men's U.S. Open on Monday in a 36-hole sectional qualifier at Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey. She needs to finish in the top 18 out of 153 entrants to earn a trip to Winged Foot. Needless to say, if she succeeds, it will be a first for a woman golfer to earn a spot in the men's U.S. Open, not to mention a 16-year-old girl still in high school.

It is always nice when the powers that be on this site filter out what one says. I stated in the original post that the Pistons were never as great as their record, and that they had many shortcomings that were exposed in the playoffs. I also stated that the window of opportunity for this Pistons squad is now closed, and Dumars will have to start working his magic again to bring them back. I figure this post will also be rejected since it seems the 'keepers' of this site are big time Detroit fans and rarely let anything critical of the Detroit defensive thugs go through. Maybe this time they will have enough "bowls" to do so. As a Lakers fan, it is also REALLY pleasing that Shaq and Riley are leading the way in beating Detroit. Memories being what they are, they enjoy being in the finals, but they REALLY enjoy having beaten Detroit.

Ah grum...yet another bitter Pissons fan...lol. It truly needs to be asked: is this the greatest choke of all time in the NBA?...Which other "guaranteed" team, one which its fans were stupidly saying should have had even greater representation (or was that over representation) at the All-Star game, has ever choked this badly?

There is no doubt in the world that Wilt was the greatest center ever. Despite what some may be saying, there were plenty of quality centers in the league through the 60's, and rightly so some knowledgeable contributors to this thread have pointed that out. The reality is that if blocked shots had been kept as a stat in the 60's, Wilt would have likely averaged a triple-double for yearly stats several times. Just a side note to his unique abilities: Who is the only center to ever lead the NBA in assists?...Wilt. The man could do it all, except free throws after they changed the rule. By the way, those that criticize Shaq for his offensive moves and contact he creates would do well to remember the man-child, Moses Malone. He was Shaq before Shaq and played much the same way. And while they are at it, look at the films of old games and check out the "lack of contact" in the great battles between Kareem and Wilt, Willis Reed and Lanier, Thurmond and Unseld, Russell and Wilt, etc. Center going at it and slamming into each other has been going on for over 40 years. It is not Shaq's fault that he is stronger than the others around him.

hey, gspm, you will not hear from me that there wasn't some home-court refereeing, and I sat that as a life-long Lakers fan. The bottom line is that there are more favorable calls for the one side in an NBA home playoff game than in any other sports event, except perhaps in this year's "tainted steel" Super Bowl.

Good luck to Favre and the Packers. As for the Bears, I think the playoffs showed the team they are - a team that had a really good record only because of the NFL's weighted schedule program that gives the illusion of parity. Just watch. The Bears will crash and burn their way this year to a 7-9 record.

since a team is really in a do or die situation when it has 2 outs, a clutch RBI should any RBI delivered when there are 2 outs, in a close game (+/- 3 runs), an it should not matter how it was accomplished. I mean there should be no difference between a Home Run or a bases loaded walk. The bottom line is that when there are 2 outs, the team is living on the edge. If that player makes out, the entire inning is over and an entire new rally has to begin the next time. Coming through under those circumstances is clutch.

if the NFL parity works so well, tell me when the Jets, Saints, Lions, 49ers, Packers, Cardinals, Bills, Texans, and Raiders are going to make the playoffs, or if they even have a chance. The bottom line is that personnel directors and coaches make the difference in any sport. Look at Oakland and Minnesota in baseball to see that. The so called parity in football is not created by revenue sharing, % spending, or those other incentives. It is falsely created by weighted scheduling that gives weaker teams a soft schedule and allows them to move up in the ranks. That simply is not possible in baseball with 162 games.

Hey, I agree that the suspension was unwarranted, but there is no doubt to Stack's intentions. I looked at the replay as suggested above, and if you look at the slow motion IN SLOW MOTION you will see that Stack led with his forearm to the shoulders and head, and then the left arm extended at a feigned attempt to block the shot. Having said that, this is the playoffs, and messages are sent. NO EASY LAYUP BASKETS !!!
