18 straight regular season wins breaking the 70 year old record held by the Chicago Bears spanning 1933-1934 (link to a 2MB PDF). 21 straight wins including the playoffs and Super Bowl. A great accomplishment, but can they top Miami's perfect season? Is there anyone on the schedule who can break the streak?

If they're not named the Oklahoma Surreys, I'm not watching (okay, I'm not watching anyways, but just think of the floor show!)

this is also pretty classic

"What? Dude, your [sic] an NBA official, not the stinking Pope. Not one person in the arena paid 1 cent of their ticket to see you, ref the game and shut your pie hole."

A dazzling Manny being Manny moment I saw this on ESPN this morning and burst out laughing as soon as I saw the high-five. There are few players who could get away with doing something like that.

So it finally comes to an end. Julio Franco has retired.
The oldest man to hit a major league home run has finally retired from professional baseball. His announcement came after a Mexican minor league game. At the age of 49, he's finally hung up the spikes. (crazy Julio Franco trivia inside)

Clemens reportedly had affair with country star Roger Clemens has another potential scandal he's already denying. He reportedly had a affair with country singer Mindy McCready in a decade-long relationship that began when she was 15 and Clemens was a 28-year old with the Red Sox. This could be especially damaging as Clemens' defamation suit against Brian McNamee proceeds.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I were a Russian player who didn't make the team so they could bring a ringer with no connection to the country.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the only country in the world that could generate that kind of opinion is the U.S, this "you're either with us or against us" kind of nationalism.

Try visiting some other countries sometime - the US has no lock on nationalist fervor.

Least Likely Super Bowl XLIII: Miami vs. Atlanta According to oddsmakers Keith Glantz and Russell Culver, the Dolphins are a 250-to-1 longshot to reach the next Super Bowl in Tampa, while the Falcons join the Oakland Raiders at 200-to-1. Winning XLII hasn't done much for the New York Giants, who at 12-to-1 are behind five teams. The early favorite: The New England Patriots at 2-to-1.

Senator Wants SpyGate Testimony Before Congress Sen. Arlen Specter, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee and an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, wants NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to explain to Congress why the league destroyed evidence related to spying by the New England Patriots. "The NFL has a very preferred status in our country with their antitrust exemption," Specter said. "The American people are entitled to be sure about the integrity of the game. It's analogous to the CIA destruction of tapes. Or any time you have records destroyed."

question for football nation: what is the point of taking a knee at the end of the half? if you have a few seconds left, why not wing one? [...] what is it that coaches are afraid of?

There's also the risk of a QB fumble turning into a defensive TD. I agree they should throw it up there, but if something crazy happens, the coach will take a lot of heat for not kneeling.

Don't forget lucky bounces. Any of their close games could easily have gone the other way because of a handful of plays. I am a Pats fan, but I don't think the element of chance should go without mention.

Patriots are perfect 16-0 with a comeback win against the New York Giants, overcoming a 12 point third-quarter deficit. Tom Brady's 50 touchdown passes in a season breaks Peyton Manning's record; Randy Moss' 23 touchdown catches in a season breaks Jerry Rice's record.
