Sports Bio

First became a fan of the NFL in 1965 while living in Dallas---the first year the Cowboys did not have a losing record going 7-7.

Went to High School in Ridgewood, New Jersey where I temporarily became a Knicks fan, now I follow the Lakers and the Clippers and occasionally go to a game when someone else pay$ for the ticket.

Moved to Southern California in 1972 and have remained a Dallas Cowboys Fan. I have been a Los Angeles Angels Fan since 1975 and a season seat holder since 1996.

A big fan of the Anaheim Ducks NHL Hockey Club and the Arena Football League, Dallas Desperadoes, because it helps me with NFL withdrawl symptoms and it is an exciting brand of football.

Recently joined the NASCAR World with the addition of Car #96, sponsored by Texas Instruments and owned by Cowboys Hall of Famers Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.

the best football invention ever is the yellow first down line.

The yellow line is a good invention but being abit older that some of you I think that the best invention was pre-computer. It was putting the little arrows next to the yard line numbers pointing towards the closest endzone. Prior to that with the limited television angles you didn't know where the heck the team was in field position if you looked away for a second.

Donovan McNabb unhappy? After being prevented from travelling with the team to their playoff game to New Orleans (The team's rule is players on injured reserve don't travel; a policy not disputed previously) and subject to the talk about Jeff Garcia's unexpected drive to the playoffs, it looks like Donovan's not pleased with the situation in Philidelphia.

posted to Football at 12:21 PM CDT

A "Playoff Game" exception to this rule would have been a better decision. To keep McNabb off the trip and away from his team was of course seen by him as an insult. McNabb has been close to becoming an elite player in the NFL but bad luck or situation and/or injury have derailed him time after time. I understand his frustration. Either he is "The Man" or he isn't. Maybe the Eagles wonder themselves.

Tuna Melts Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships.

posted to Football at 12:13 PM CDT

It's not like Bill waited until the day before the draft to tell Jerry he was leaving. He coached his last game, an emotional one at that, just 3 weeks ago. Three weeks to make a life changing decision is not unusal. I agree with those who just think Bill ran out of gas and was not having any fun. He is leaving to see if he can have as much fun as Jimmy Johnson is having. Thanks for the 4 years, Bill.

Chargers shut out Pats fans The San Diego Chargers have restricted the sale of tickets to Southern California residents only. The Bears are reportedly employing the same tactics for their game against Seattle. Bad sportsmanship or cunning strategem?

posted to Football at 2:44 PM CDT

The Chargers have employed some clever ticketing policies in the past. To limit the number of Raider Fans from coming down from Oakland they have put the Raider games into a 3-game package and required that all 3 games be purchased. To think that limiting ticket sales to Southern Californians ensures a Charger Crowd may be false. There seems to be loads of fans for other teams in Southern California. At the Steelers Game in San Diego this year the Steelers Fans and their yellow jerseys were very well represented. Besides the weather in San Diego on Sunday is predicted to be just average...Sunny and 65 degrees.

The game will be won by the team that is prepared best and executes best.

Ya Think?

Comment icon posted at 4:16 PM CDT on January 10

Yeah, but Raider fans are usually armed, so I understand limiting their numbers.

TBH, If you are joking I have to tell you that this is true. I recall a Rams-Raiders Preseason game at then Anaheim Stadium in the early 90's that I took my then 2 young daughters to see. After being sprayed with thrown beer cups and language I did not want to be subjected to we left right after halftime. On our way out I passed an usher I know who told me that there had been at least 15 fights and 2 stabbings. He said that if he could leave thet he would. A preseason game!

Zito Breaks the Bank. Barry Zito stays in the Bay Area, signing a seven-year deal worth $126 million. It's the richest contract for a pitcher in Major League Baseball history.

The A's have some good young arms and will still be a factor as usual, I bet.

It amazes me that year after year the A's lose talent but they always contend. As an Angel Fan I'm searching for the secret....and I'm glad we don't have to worry about Zito on a regular basis.

"He should be a team player 100 per cent." A junior hockey player has been ousted from the Saint John Sea Dogs after he did not sign a Canadian flag that the team was sending to troops in Afghanistan.

jay,

What does this link or thread have to do with the Dallas Cowboys. You need to go back 6 or 7 links to find a Cowboys topic. I know that sometimes it takes a while to get your thoughts onto the keyboard but you have severely missed your mark. Good luck!

Thanks irfc, Being a Cowboys Fan in Southern Califronia I was not aware of the new (1998) mascot. I always considerd Crazy Ray the main guy. Why would someone want to get rid of Rowdy? Is he not popular? According to the website he's an award winner. For each -- his own, I spose. jay's post makes more sense now. Thanks for wise'in me up about Rowdy.

Tom Brady Blitzes Yahoo! In a federal complaint, Brady charges Yahoo! used his photo without authorization in a September 2006 Sports Illustrated ad and in banner ads on Yahoo! Sports pages. Brady alleges that Yahoo!'s use of his image (he's one of six players in the ad) connotes a false endorsement and, as such, is seeking unspecified punitive and compensatory damages against the company.

It seems to me that I see Brett Favre more often in commercials than any other NFL'er except Reggie Bush. I think the advertisers are pandering to my age group with Favre and nobody likes Subway more than me. Those clever rascals!

Texans take a look at Gatlin The Houston Texans had an interesting guest in camp on Tuesday -- disgraced sprinter Justin Gatlin. The man who won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics and owns the record in the 100 metres could sign a contract late next month despite not having played football since 10th grade.

The Dallas Cowboys tried the "Worlds Fastest Man" route very sucessfully in 1966 when they signed "Bullet" Bob Hayes. The Cowboys also drafted Carl Lewis in 1984 but Lewis never became a Cowboy. At the wide reciever posistion - Speed does Kill!
