Fukudome doesn't find racist T-shirts in Wrigleyville funny A Fukudome T-shirt with a racist image is the hottest-selling item at a souvenir stand that sells unlicensed Cubs-related merchandise across Addison Street from the ballpark.......... The Cubs front office was flooded with angry emails from fans in response to a Sun-Times story about a controversial T-shirt being sold outside of Wrigley Field. The ballclub does the right thing (update inside) after the uproar, for those of you who feel we've licked the problem of Racism in America, Guess Again!

I find the name Ying Yang Mafia [(see two posts above)(nothing personal)] an offensive user name. But as long as he/she is a member of the Chinese underworld, it's ok....right? I agree this situation with the t-shirt is unacceptable, but we should lobby for an end to racism everywhere you see it, including when African-Americans call themselves and others the N-word.
Bush Booed By Beltway Baseballers! The high heat shut 'em up a little bit, though.

I would like to have seen him shake off a sign and do a full wind-up, but in terms of accuracy and power, he blows away all previous presidents.
Don't be foolish, there is a reason he darts out to the mound and back. He is a big baseball fan, and now I assume he did more than sit in the skybox when he was the owner(?)of the Rangers

Ultimate Fighting Robs The Cradle Want to watch 6-year-olds in the Octagon? Welcome to Missouri, apparently the only state in the union that allows "youth fighting." Says one parent, "We're not training them for dog fighting...I'd rather have my kids here than out on the streets."

Where does it say in the article that the instructor is a qualified licecensed instructor. And where does one get that title? It's just a matter of time before a over-zealous DCFS worker brings charges against some (or all )of these parents. Lets see if it is worth their children going into Foster Care. And anyone who has ever been involved with DCFS knows, DCFS overrules the courts.

I wish I had some of them growth plates in my stomach, so it would of quit growing at 18
Jose Canseco Has 'Stuff' on A-Rod Throughout this whole somewhat tainted steroids era, Alex Rodriguez's name has never really been slung through the mud. He obviously has a lot of home runs for his age, but he's never hit an exorbitant amount of them in one season. The general perception is A-Rod is just really, really good at what he does.
posted to Baseball at 10:40 AM CDT
If Canseco hated A-rod so badly, why would he introduce him to anyone? Friend or foe? I hate your guts, but here's my steroid guy. Doesn't make sense. If this was done before he hated A-Rod, then the argument would be....Can I trust my career to someone I don't know very well? And then introduce him to my steroid guy? I think I would want to be extremly careful of whom I told I was doing roids. As we have found out, as rampant as it is, it is still very secretive.
Union to examine why Bonds has no offers The lack of offers to Barry Bonds will be examined by the baseball players' association as part of its annual review of the free-agent market. Less than two weeks before opening day, the 43-year-old home run king remains unsigned.

How much is a 20 HR, 80 RBI, .275 DH worth now days in baseball? That is probably where he would be this year. That should be his offer. If that's what a team needs, I say go for it. However, as a DH, he would bat, go to the clubhouse read the paper, watch cartoons (ricochett rabbit perhaps), snack on gogurt or puddin pops, play some poker or hearts with the guy locked in the equipment room, and wait until it's his turn to bat. And then do it all over again. I can't see him becoming a part of any ones TEAM.
John Daly disqualified at Bay Hill One day after swing coach Butch Harmon fires him, Daly misses his tee time and is disqualified from Arnold Palmers Invitational. Said Harmon, "My whole goal for him was he's got to show me golf is the most important thing in his life," Harmon said. "And the most important thing in his life is getting drunk."

Do not be shocked if you pick up a paper, or read a blog of John Dalys death.
Everyone will say what a shame, and how well liked he was, and that some one should have done something about his destructive behavior. But in the end, he is a grown man making poor decisions, as do millions of people.(See Rod Beck).
I will always remember him as the guy who smoked on the tour. Always tried to hide it, always got caught. I never saw him with a beer in his hand tho.......
What Part Of "Spring Training" Don't You Guys Get? Spikes go high and benches clear between the Yanks and Rays. To paraphrase, Man, we talkin' practice here! With nifty spikes-to-crotch photo action!

Billy Crystal joins the Yankees. The 59-year-old comedian will sign a one-day, minor league contract with the New York Yankees and play in Thursday’s exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, wearing #60, a day before his 60th birthday. Crystal said, “I’ve been waiting 50 years for this call ... I know this’ll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I’m looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them."

This crap has been going on for years. Whether it was George Plimpton putting on the Helmet, or the little guy Bill Veck used to fill the stands, it's a show. Billy Crystal has probably greased the palm of someones charity to do this. The demeanor of the Pirates is critical tho.....They may throw at his head.
Mark Cuban's policy bans blogger(s) from Dallas Mavericks locker room. Interesting take from the blogger himself.

PGA Tour player Tripp Isenhour faces criminal charges for killing hawk It wasn't an accident, but it was with a hit golf ball. How many strokes off for killing a migratory bird?
posted to Golf at 7:15 PM CDT
He drove at it with his golf cart. Either it didn't move or it came back to the general area. It was being noisy. Let's see...... making a lot of noise and not wanting to move from its location. Sounds like it was trying to mate, and Tripp was in his/her territory. Do hawks mate in Florida in December. I can't believe you people are calling it an accident. He accomplished what he was trying to do. That is no accident. The results are not what he wanted, but it was no accident.
And to the Seagull hater, man what an irritatating species of bird. Almost as bad as chickens(see Juan Marichal, Pedro Martinez thread), but they are protected scavengers, and help to keep our beaches clean. And they taste like chicken!!!!

I am a Bears fan, and this would be the perfect time to really rag on Brett, but I can't. He is going to go down as THE best QB ever. He was so frustrating to watch as an opponent. You knew if he had the ball at the end of the game, you were going to lose. How many come from behind wins did he manufacture? He was a gunslinger, and fun to watch. QB's today are boring. Brett was anything but boring.
The Bears need a QB coach, so when you're ready, Go work for them. Stay in the game that you love, and that loves you.
Pedro Martinez, Juan Marichal filmed at cock fight A video of Martinez and Marichal at a cockfight was posted this week on YouTube and it showed the two laughing before releasing the roosters. They took part as honourary "soltadores," the word used to describe the person who puts the animal to fight. The fight takes place in their home country, the Dominican Republic, where cockfighting is legal and popular. It is banned throughout the United States

Officials in all sports miss calls. I would say baseball has the best % rate of good calls while basketball is the worse. Basketball officials just don't care about the rules, and the veterens get more calls their way. Announcers even admit to the rookie factor, which I think baseball officials could care less about.
