Mike Nolan scores one for the suit. The 49ers coach has fought the NFL and Reebook since 2005 for the right to wear a suit on game day. Nolan wants to do it to honor his dad, a former 49ers coach himself, who is now suffering from Alzheimer's and prostate cancer. Nolan has the right to wear suits only at home games. Fans have started wearing suits to games to support his cause. Meanwhile, Reebok is perfectly fine with Bill Bellichick wearing hoodies with cutoff sleeves to games. Reebok's suit concession includes hiring Joseph Abboud to design NFL-themed wardrobes just for Nolan. Why don't the NFL and Reebok just go whole hog and use this as a promotion for a whole new line of NFL sports suits and accessories (Reebok dress shoes)? It'll support a good cause, bring a lot of good, free PR, probably lots of cash. Hey, perhaps it'll bring some respectability back to the game?

"Fans have started wearing suits to th games in support." -This is why Reebok is against it. If I worked for Reebok, I would be furious. Everyone in a suit is someone not wearing a jersey. Bellichick fans wear a hoodie with cutoff sleeves, Reebok still makes money.

This article is about two different things. 1) Some dude in Cincy with a microphone gets paid when people listen to him. 2) Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr had a rough day at the office.
My response to (1); Well, alright. And (2); I would be happy to have either of those gentlemen play for my beloved Royals if they would be willing. I can promise them that if they ever have an off day, we will all forgive them.

Members of the AP poll can now vote for these teams. "The poll was always intended to measure teams that compete against each other, regardless of division, based solely on on-field performance," explained AP sports editor Terry Taylor. "It was that way long before Division I was divided into I-A and I-AA in 1978."

I think that teams like Appalachian State beating teams like Michigan is bad for college football. Is it fun to watch? Absolutely. All it can do in the long run is; A) Entice quality players to go to smaller colleges, and B) Delay the switch to some sort of playoff system.
A) The same amount of highly talented players playing for more teams will just lower the lever of play. Bad news for the sport.
B) Any switch to a playoff style season would reduce the number of games quality teams would be willing to play smaller market teams. Playoffs make every top team a contender. Playing a lot of top notch competitors all season gets experience under your belt, and ultimately gives you a better chance of winning the whole thing. Teams like Michigan would rather play a "good" team, get the experience and lose, then play Appalachian State and win, but gain nothing from it. (Granted App St won this one, but it's not like that's someting that happens very often.)

I don't understand why we hold people in the media to a higher standard. I don't understand how calling someone out is a bad thing either. Come to think of it, I don't see why this is even an article? It's probably the coolest thing that ever happened to the guy that got pawned.

That's a really good article. He's a good writer.
I could see how players would have to separate themselves from fans. Especially children. If any ball players made eye contact with me as a kid, I would have screamed at them the whole game.

Can't agree with Antoine Walker. He played some key minutes the year they won. Everything is worth it when you get the ring. I'm on the fence over Big Ben. He's good. He's gonna be ultra valuable in the playoffs for another two or three years. Traditionally you wouldn't want to give an old big man a long deal. Especially with the bulls on the verge. With so much cap room (they had a bunch of money before they got Big Ben). I think it would have been smart to pull a NE Patriots/Phoenix Suns style move and hoard draft picks. Save money for the contract extensions that the young guys grow into. Still, I trust a sports columnist on this topic more than myself. It would have taken me three months research to widdle it down to 10 overpaid NBA guys.

Hockey needs to do something drastic. I watched as a kid. The lockout in...91? 92? Well, it's not worth doing research on, that's for sure. They should make the ice Olympic sized (much bigger). It spreads the game out and allows the athletes to skate much faster. More passing, more puck control, but most importantly, more scoring and of course more open ice hitting. The NHL is like the NBA before they added the three point line. Every bodies all smashed together. There isn't enough room out there to show their freakish talent.
I would love to love hockey again.

This article was pretty cool. Centers have the most fun on the O-line. All the other O-line guys block D-line guys on almost every single play. Not centers, they get to go after LBs and Safeties on most run plays. Even when centers do have to block D-line guys, they usually are the double team guy, shoving some guy from the side. Once the ball is snapped the hard part is over for the center. Good times.
The Chiefs Casey Wiegmann makes it easy to pay attention to the O-Line.

I don't see the Chiefs getting on this bandwagon. They have a lot of faith in Croyle for the future, and are barely paying him. Pretty good place to be. Leftwich is always hurt because he doesn't have an internal clock. The guy just stands there until either someone gets open or he gets hit. Not smart. Ya, You'll see him throw some nice balls, and it's refreshing to see a QB so bold. Not worth it though when he's always on the bench come playoffs.
It will take a pretty desperate team to pick him up. They will wait til he's a free agent anyway.

Makes sense. I think it will remind coaches to teach it. I could see a coach just not telling his kids before. Now he's reminded everytime the kids skate off.
