The Ten Best Individual Sports Rivalries Men's Vogue lists what they believe are the ten greatest individual sports rivalries in history.

posted to General at 3:59 PM CDT

Although not there personally I saw all three Ali Frazier fights. They were classics. No problem with them being listed number one. But that fact that Bo versus Woody is not in the top ten is unbelievable. Being a Michigan fan and in attendance at the Big House during Bo versus Woody it's apparent that Men's Vogue knows nothing of football.

Bob Knight Resigns from Texas Tech in midseason after 902 career wins.

902 reasons to like him. 902 reasons to hate him. That is Bob Knight's legacy.

More Bad Noose for Pro Golf Although the story appeared to be dying down after the Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman apologized to Tiger Woods for her "lynch him" remark, Golfweek has just thrown gas on the fire with its cover story and illustration.

posted to Golf at 12:38 PM CDT

Tilhgman's choice of wording was marginal. Golfweek's choice of a cover is infuriating. Yet's see now. Taxes up. Gas prices up. Discretionary income down. One magazine subscription must go. That would be Golfweek.

Patriots are perfect 16-0 with a comeback win against the New York Giants, overcoming a 12 point third-quarter deficit. Tom Brady's 50 touchdown passes in a season breaks Peyton Manning's record; Randy Moss' 23 touchdown catches in a season breaks Jerry Rice's record.

I saw Miami go undefeated. I saw New England go undefeated. Great accomplishments but only one team didn't cheat and film their opponents. One team deserves and asterisk the other stays flawless.

Strange Days A look back at the 2007 college football season, one of the wildest seasons in history.

A fun list to read but the real story was how far off the experts were in establishing the pre-season national rankings. The initial picks were a disaster. I thinking several "experts" at rating college football teams is looking for a place to hide.

56*? Does Joe DiMaggio's streak deserve an asterisk?

posted to Baseball at 6:49 PM CDT

There were friendly score keepers in Joe DiMaggio's time. No, say it ain't so Joe. It's nice to know that the friendly score keepers of fifty years ago still exist today. An asterik? You've go to be kidding.

Lions Stun Bears With Record 4th Quarter The Lions scored an NFL-record 34 points in the fourth quarter as they overcame the Chicago Bears 37-27 Sunday.

50+ years as a Lions fan? Really? If you know about Commander Cody you're fairly old but 50+ years as a Lions fan. Prove it. What was the name of the stadium 50 years ago and who was Yale Lary?

Da Bears changed quarterbacks. Maybe they should change their defense.

Tubby Fills A Gopher Hole... ...Tubby Smith leaves Kentucky for Minnesota.

I loved the comment "Kentucky is to basketball what Alabama is to football". You are so correct. Both are former powerhouses who have fallen to mediocrity.

It's selection Sunday, and while there are plenty of teams waiting with baited breath, only Appalachian State took out a $10,000 full page advertisement in the Indianapolis Star. This is believed to be the first time a team has publicly lobbied the selection committee via public media advertising.

$10K for advertisement. Sorry Appalachian State, you P'd aware your money. I live in Indianapolis. Never saw your add.

"Moral Bracketology" Writer David Stein devises a scheme to decide the best and worst moments in sports history.

posted to Basketball at 1:59 AM CDT

Best moment in sports. Colts Win Super Bowl? Why? If a live one more day or fifty more years I will never hear some talking head say Payton Manning and Tony Dungy can't win the big game.

Worst moment in sports. A tough one but two come to mind. I'm old enough to remember when TV cut aware from an NFL game to telecast the movie Heidi. Also, I actually saw Chris Berman from ESPN at a golf Pro/Am. He had a horrible golf swing and even worse the golf attire he had on made him look like a physical wreck. He has a huge gut and no butt. Now that is a real visual nightmare. This is a man who should never play golf when there is a chance that it will be televised.

My top four seeds. Can't think of anyone real deserving at this point. Maybe UCLA. The rest will depend on how teams do in their conference tournament.

Brett Favre Coming Back For 17th Season "We have a good nucleus of young players. We were 8-8 last year, and that's encouraging."

NFL Hall of Fame class of 2007 includes Michael Irvin, Thurman Thomas ... alongside Gene Hickerson, Bruce Matthews, Charlie Sanders and Roger Wehrli.

posted to Football at 3:06 PM CDT

This has to be the bottom of the barrel for the NFL. First, they threatened with a lawsuit a Baptist Church in Indianapolis if they have a Super Bowl party and show the game on a TV screen bigger that fifty-five inches. Second, they have a crack head elected into their Hall of Fame. This weekend has to be a PR nightmare for anyone affiliated with the NFL.

Ted Johnson's on the Injured List Years After Retirement The former Patriots middle linebacker says Coach Bill Belichick and team trainers caused the debilitating mental problems he has developed after a series of increasingly severe concussions. "There’s something wrong with me," Johnson, 34, told the New York Times. "There’s something wrong with my brain. And I know when it started."

posted to Football at 8:34 AM CDT

Ted Johnson has something wrong with his brain and he knows when it started. So do I. A cumulative 1.25 GPA while in college. Now he is out of football and has no marketable skills.
