Tom Brady TD prediction contest

His hand will become possessed like "Evil Dead 2" and he'll have to cut it off. But he'll attach a jai-alai like basket to the stump and then he'll throw for 54 touchdowns. #50 will be caught by Wes Welker 12/16 against the Jets. (Yes, I did copy that game and date from everyone else. Also, if people are thinking of copying off me, I'm not so sure about the possessed-hand part so be warned. I am pretty comfy with the 54 pick.) Stallworth catches #54.

Why is the bedroom so cold Turned away on your side? Is my timing that flawed, Our respect run so dry? Yet there's still this appeal That we've kept through our lives. Love, love will tear us apart again Do you cry out in your sleep? All my failings exposed. Get a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold. Is it something so good Just can't function no more? When love, love will tear us apart again

Crafty's leaving? Man this is rough. I was actually okay until I went into the lockerroom -- and the admins are sitting in rcade's office and they're reading this. The tears you hear in my voice are coming down the faces of the admins. Seriously, if Crafty's out, I'm out. We have a special bond. We traded CD's. I mean I can't hear "Connecticut's for F*cking" without thinking of him.

Quality of Links Decreasing. Discuss.

Perhaps some people don't understand how AP/wire-service stories work? Maybe a quick explanation would help? Something along the lines of, Wires are services that websites use to get news they can't cover. The most common wire service is AP, or Associated Press. Wire stories will typically be credited to an Associated Press writer, or they'll be credited to a wire service. For example, CBS Sportsline calls them "CBS SportsLine.com wire reports". Or they may begin with "AP"... I can see one or two get-out-of-jail free cards, but repeat offenders need to be dealt with. If they're told they're posting garbage and they continue posting garbage, then what's the point of telling them they're posting garbage? I'm a not a big NBA fan, but I love the lilnemo posts because I can find out what's going on in all the series in about 3 minutes. On edit: Tahoe just proved me wrong. People just don't get what this place is supposed to be. Good luck trying to change that.

What are SpoFites' favorite books?

How could we get this far without anyone mentioning the best baseball move ever made: I believe in the Church of Baseball. ... I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I heard that, I gave Jesus a chance. But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. or I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. ... Goodnight. Probably tied with Slapshot as best sports movie ever made. Field of Dreams is up there too, but it makes me cry so I can only watch it alone.

Hart: Sidney Crosby. Plenty of worthy candidates, I go with Crosby because of the huge turn-around by the Pens. Adams: I hate to pick Michel Therrien for the same reason, but I'm going to anyway. Norris: Scott Niedermayer. Nick Lidstrom is a very close second Lady Byng: I have no idea. Vezina: Martin Brodeur. If I lived out west I'd go with Luongo. Tough call, but I'll stick with Marty. I didn't mean they should go back to clutch and grab, I was just hinting that the cure seems to be just as bad as the disease. Go back to the keep-the-feet-moving rule and let them play some end-to-end hockey, and call coincidentals on the dives. Also, when did the stick become off limits? You should be allowed to play the stick with your stick, no? With all the power plays it looks like half-rink blue-line-to-clear. Highsticks are black-and-white so I'm okay with them. It's the judgment calls like hooking tht need to be examined.

Oh, and what DrJohn said. I turned off the Pens-Sens game b/c of all the penalty calls late in the 1st. Note to the NHL: Constant, non-stop special teams hockey is more boring than clutch-and-grab. I'm not saying they should stop calling penalties, but it's way out of hand.

Are you guys covering these MLB divisions going to be unbiased about all the teams or just homers? Homers? [The Phillies] are so quick to blame the [baseball] gods: they say that we devise their misery. But they themselves—in their depravity [and lack of discipline at the plate]—design grief greater than the griefs that fate assigns. So did [Pat Burrell] act when he transgressed the boundaries that fate and reason set [for home plate].
