This is a tragedy! As a UVM grad, I used to proudly state that the University of Vermont football team had been undefeated since 1974. They even sold t-shirts in the bookstore that said that.
Seriously, this is great for UVM. They'd fit right into Division III's NESCAC, I bet -- Middlebury plays football in that conference.

We don't need to get as sci-fi as JATO asses -- what about an archer who wears prescription contact lenses that can provide better than 20/20 vision? What about a javelin thrower who has had Tommy John surgery (baseball pitchers have been claiming that surgery increases their velocity for years)? I don't think there is an easy place to draw the line, but I think this discussion is necessary in all sports.

That said, the whole "look through you like you're not even there" act is pathetic and lame. Don't we all just ignore people from time to time, though? Whether it is the drunk on the subway, the pickup artist at the bar, or the old lady at the supermarket who's still trying to tell us how much better the produce was when she was younger. It doesn't make it OK, but I know I don't want to have to interact with every single person I encounter during my day, especially if they are trying to interrupt me from my work. It is very well written. I kept thinking, "a baseball player wrote this?"

Of course this is happening. Like kyrilmitch_76 says, it is all about synergy. How many Arena Football highlights did you see on Sportscenter when the AFL was on NBC? Now that it is on ESPN, there are always a few. I'm frankly surprised that there isn't more of this going on? Why mention the NHL at all? Why mention the All-Star Game (broadcast on Fox)? Why cover golf tournaments that air on CBS? Why mention that Wimbledon coverage will be switching to NBC at noon? I think within the next 5-10 years this will only become more obvious, and more detrimental to the health of sports in general.

If she is free, she feeds balls into the pitching machine. Amber stands behind an L-Screen, the kind used to protect batting-practice pitchers. Still, line drives sometimes rip through the screen. “I know she’s taken a few in the helmet,” said Mickey Hatcher, the Angels’ hitting coach. That's my new euphemism for a psycho ex-girlfriend -- she's taken a few in the helmet.
