Detroit Tigers, Miguel Cabrera agree to 8 year extension

And to think, he'll be a pure DH (IMO) for a good chunk of this contract...

Good for you, Miggy.

Ralph Wilson, founder and owner of the Buffalo Bills, dies at 95

BTW, it seems unlikely that a new owner/ownership group moves the team. They recently signed a 10-year stadium lease ... and it comes with a $400 million relocation fee.

Ralph Wilson, founder and owner of the Buffalo Bills, dies at 95

It's been a rough time here in Bills Country. First the news about Jim Kelly ... and now this out of the blue.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ralph, Jim and their families...

Doctors Staple Aroldis Chapman Back Together

Wow -- Moore's incident looked horrific. I think these 2 events will only lead to MLB introducing some type of helmet/visor for pitchers ...

Whether or not it will be mandatory ... I don't know.

Doctors Staple Aroldis Chapman Back Together

I never thought about the mental side of it. Even if it's in his head for a while, I think he'll eventually overcome it and regain his dominant form. With a 100+ MPH fastball and a nasty power curve, his talent should rise.

2014 NFL Free Agency Reset

Hi yerfatma -- sorry for that. I should have read the rules thoroughly.

Just looking to stir up some fantasy discussion over the offseason. I've been happy chiming in on other posts, too.

Apologizes again. Take care.

Rashard Mendenhall Retiring from NFL

He made somewhere in the neighborhood of $13M. That's a pretty nice neighborhood if he wasn't a complete idiot with his money. Plus he already has a ring.

If he comes back, he can maybe command $1M, with the very real possibility of suffering permanent injury. Can't blame him at all.

Absolutely agree. And there's no doubt he's financially set (barring some really, really bad habits...)

It's just sad that racism helped push him out of the league. You wonder how severely that issue impacts other NFL players ...

Cowboys Release DeMarcus Ware

Looks like we're headed for another Pats-Broncos showdown in the playoffs. But that's why they play the games...

Here's our take on the Ware signing from a fantasy football standpoint:

-Former Cowboys DE DeMarcus Ware has reached a 3-year, $30 million deal with the Broncos. It reportedly includes $20 million in guaranteed money, a tremendous sum for a guy Dallas dumped earlier this week. Ware missed 3 games and saw his production drop last year while he dealt with multiple injuries, but he still performed well when on the field. Heading into his age-32 season, Ware certainly upgrades the Broncos' pass rush. The money says we should continue to treat him as a starter when we put together our 2014 IDP rankings.

What is the best possible season a player could have?

In baseball, inventing a player who makes Trout look like a scrub can only swing 12% of the season compared to someone you could find in AAA.

Incredible...
