Watching game five with my father. He's in a hospital bed recovering from surgery performed Saturday. Watching the Lakers victory with him made for two great birthday presents.

Twitter has since announced on June 6th what they are calling "verified accounts." These accounts will have a logo indicating that if the message is from some public official or agency then it really is them and not an impostor. I'd expect twitter hopes the rich and famous will be next in line for these verified accounts.

HCG was placed on the banned substances list last year not because it's a steroid, but because it's used as a masking agent for steroids. Finding this substance in Ramirez's system is MLB's stated reason for his suspension. If Ramirez should do any court depositions BornIcon's semantics point will be made a great deal of.

Thanks to Rick Reilly for writing this remembrance and gfinsf for posting it. I have long marveled at Wooden's achievements. Coaching as he did in the 60's to mid 70's. A time when college campuses were, I've been told, in much turmoil.

Alex Rodriguez's response when Gammons reminded him when he denied using steroids on a 60 Minutes 2007 interview: "at the time, Peter, I wasn't even being truthful with myself. How am I going to be truthful with Katie (Couric) or CBS?" That answer is straight from the Oprah guest handbook. Students of PR should be made to study this interview for years. Selig has nothing to worry about. The focus will be on how Rodriguez handled this PR crisis, not Selig's response to it.

According to Worldwide Leader, the University of Tennesee made an inquiry about Gruden replacing Phil Fulmer as head coach. Gruden said no.
Unemployment and a Notre Dame offer could of course make for a different answer.

I get football withdrawl syndrome on the in between week. All the college basketball games networks put on can't help me. I love this idea. I do remember the last college all stars vs Pro's game. It rained so hard at Soldier Field that they cancelled the game in the third quarter. Pittsburgh was far ahead. College all stars vs. THE Pittsburgh Steelers. Don't tell me Pete Rozelle thought that one up.

If you heard any speculation on Carroll possibly moving to an NFL team tell me which team it is. Nothing on wearesc.com What I am getting at is that Petrino, Saban, and Steve Spurrier cooled off the market for college coaches for the NFL. Seems to be more about going after coordinators now. The terrible trio have damaged everybody. I'm sure they're part of the reason why Boise State head coach Chris Petersen doesn't even rate as speculation fodder for the NFL's head coaching vacancies.

The worst rain in baseball since the Dodgers Tommy John pitched the pennant clincher against the Phillies in 1977. Even worse rain than that DeNiro/Snipes movie "The Fan." This game has to be played out, of course. A World Series game should never be called short. It would be the biggest asterisk ever in a sport that's had enough of them.

Southern Californa radio sports personality Vic "the Brick" Jacobs frequently refers to Kobe Bryant as Ocho Cinco. (Bryant's Lakers uniform number is 24.) I only hope Chad Johnson's name change can put a stop to that.
