I've listened to Rush, and he's seems to have a lot of football knowledge and the desire to see his (sort of) hometown succeed. Of course, football knowledge does not equal management success (see: the Ford family, Detroit Lions, and Matt Millen).
As for the beliefs of an owner/manager/team president/etc., if they can put a winning team together, then who cares. I'm no Michael Moore fan, but if he wanted to buy a sports team (maybe the Flint Tropics?) and wanted to do what it takes to win, why not?

As for people now calling a hero, Eulls feels he was just doing what anyone else would have done in that situation.
Actually, of all the "anyones" on the bus, he was the only one to do what he did in that situation. His bravery and his modesty are an example for everyone.

Technically, if a QB had an arm strong enough to hit the board, and time was running out, couldn't a team exploit this rule to in effect call a time out? It'd be similar to a 1st down in college FB where they restart the clock when the balled is placed and the ref blows it live.
I'm just guessing here, but I think there are more than a few QBs who could do this. If it ever happens, especially more than once, I'm sure some clock runoff rule will be put in place if it was deemed intentional. Put receivers in the right spot in some Hail Mary situation, and it might be hard to figure whether it is intentional or not.

That's right. Laimbeer and Mahorn would probably come in a package deal. Haven't really heard him mentioned in the mix yet, though. Detroiters would absolutely love it. But that could just be an Alan Trammel situation all over again.

Yeah, I agree. Not sure how Laimbeer's WNBA success would translate to NBA. He's a hard-ass old-school type of coach, which probably would have played well with the Pistons of a couple years ago. Rasheed's gone and some new guys will be coming in. We'll have to see what kind of work ethic they have. Dumars claims to have learned his lesson with Iverson about getting people in the system that don't have a common mindset.
Word is he's going after Gordon and Villanueva. Anyone know much about how hard those guys work? Seems like Gordon has butted heads with coaches in the past. I like him as a player, though. Has a very Vinnie Johnson microwave factor to him.

He may be a liar, but it's the best move for the Pistons at this point. Following the team this year, it seemed to me that Curry never gained the full confidence of his team. Not a good "word on the street" vibe to have going into a summer where Detroit could bring in some big free agents. Curry may have done better this year, but he was the unfortunate vehicle through which Dumars could signal that he was going to do some serious shopping.
Or I could be completely wrong here.

From the Lions perspective--having had the misfortune of being born a Lions fan--this is about the best move they've had in recent memory. It sends the message that they mean business about rebuilding, actually getting something in exchange for a former top 10 WR draft pick before he flamed out (or lit up). That, and they put Kitna on IR.
Of course, if they go WR with even one of their 1st round picks next year, I might stick my head in an oven.

Since we have inter-league play now (since 1997), why not let the team with best inter-league record have homefield advantage in the World Series? It might take some of the relevance out of the All-Star game, but it would certainly be more fair to the individual teams that play in the Series. And using the All-Star game as a deciding factor for homefield adv. is not any sort of tradition yet (started 2003), so no one should be crying too much.

I was watching the game live. When Artest lay down on the scorer's table like he was getting a sun tan on the beach, I couldn't help but think that it wasn't helping to defuse the situation--more like gas on the fire. You could see that it was just inflaming the Pistons (especially B. Wallace) even more. And, as a fan, it really ticked me off. It felt more like he was just rubbing it in. Why didn't he just walk back to the bench, away from the middle of the court and the opposing team's bench? Provocative to say the least.

Limbaugh didn't come up with the idea of "Barack the magic negro." He was responding to a column by a left-leaning journalist at LA Times that referred to Obama as the mythical "magic negro." As a matter of fact, Limbaugh's producer for over 20 years is a black man. He's not a racist.
