Great, stay away. Stay in your obnoxious arena watching your rat-look-alike coach cursing his players in the second best blue in your state. :)!!! Seeing a sea of 107,000 people dressed in beautiful Orange is sight to behold and one never to forget. Long live college sports and the enjoyment it gives us all.

As a Vol alum, What an awesome scene!!!! Pat Summitt is the epitome of excellence in her field of teaching and coaching young women and men, motivating these kids to strive and reach for the stars. I have heard many interviews with her, Jim Rome always has a good chat with her, and she sees herself as a teacher first, coach second, all class, all the time. I think a very high percent of her players graduate, if not all of them. Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top, Tennessee. and tieguy...if you ever punched Mrs. Summitt, I don't think you would ever be found in Rocky Top.....

I can't understand why he can be out of town for months at a time, don't the Kings play home games?? Keeping your pets on a tether for weeks at a time is enough abuse to justify these punishments: a)take his dogs away b)fine him heavily c)make him watch "Must Love Dogs" everyday for two years.

Hey bdaddy, OK needed some fortunate plays, the muffed punt, tipped ball and lucky fumble recovery to take the lead with ONE minute left against BOISE STATE. OK showed no class in that game, if I were a OK fan, I would be very disappointed in my team's lack of respect for an opposing team and sportsmanship shown on the field and terrible play calling and terrrible blocking on kickoffs and awful offensive line blocking. I watched the whole game, my wife and her family is from Boise, so I have become a fan as well. what a game....one of the best I ve ever seen. I have been to the blue turf a few times and hung out with the bronco nation, they are wonderful fans and really get behind the team, now they have respect. Congrats!!!

I have been a long time Astro fan and have enjoyed these past 15 years with Bagwell and Biggio in the lineup every day. Thanks, Jeff. I think he has a great shot at the HOF. His numbers are good enough, he was a class act, never shied away from questions(post season avg.), stayed loyal with the Astros. I'd like to see Bags and Biggs go in together in Cooperstown, that would be a great moment for the Astros and baseball, TEAMMATES going in together. Has that ever happened???? Also, I am glad he is staying with the team.

great post, i d like to read the entire blog, it is en francais, so if anyone can find it in anglaise, pleas pass it on, ty. i wish materazzi would admit to what he'd said during the game, or it comes out sometime soon from 'sources' at the field level. I know it is not against the rules to trash talk, but I think it was totally classless and unsportsmanlike on the part of the italians, who will now have the brand of DIVERS and GUTLESS, play like real sportsmen or dont play at all. i had wished zz would have waited until the final whistle and then knocked the asshole to the ground, but , the path he chose was more valiant, sticking up for himself and family rises above all, even country in this grand tournament. hats off to zz for taking this stand and shame on the cheap italian players

a great article and will help EPL's status in the states, as long as he writes about every now and then. I have watched a good amount of the EPL over the last few years, but this season, my dvr is set to record every game i can, i cant wait for it to start. FSC shows alot of EPL games and they frequently show the really good teams. I have always liked Chelsea, but since i didnt grow up there, i rout for good, competetive games and pay attention to the style of play and quality of players. This year i will not watch any of the Italian league because of the quality of flopping, as seen in WC final, I thought they were better than that, but now i rate them with the great diving mexican national teams, CLASSLESS.... i think simmons should watch a season before picking a favorite, but thats just me

BullpenPro, I am not discrediting Jeter's accomplishments, he has been a very steady hitter throughout his career, and also on probably the best team over the last decade, I thought there would be a bigger gap between the 1-2-3 hitters in the AL than the NL. There is some gap, but it is not that big. I guess the NL pitchers probably only average 2.5 at-bats a game, then pinch hitters and double switches probably take the bat out of their hands in the late innings. Giving the 1-2-3 hitters in the NL a good number of at-bats. A question: Do post season hits count in this category?? Jeter probably has a few of those..... Oh well,you learn something new every day..Go Astros!!!!

it might be a little off, if he stays off the DL and averages 200 hits a year could be 4-5 yrs, but staying healthy is critical, and he is lucky to play in the DH league, he gets more at bats then the national league hitters because of that lame-ass rule of the DH, step in the diamond and pick up a bat!!!!!

I think France is the team to beat, with their experience and most excellant defense, they will be in the final. I am most impressed with their team play, their back six are playing incredibly well and the midfield is holding the ball and dictating play, well done, very well done. The offense will come alive against Portugal, maybe in the air, two headers in the back of the net and an Henry breakaway at the end of the game to win 3-0. The other game will be a classic, i think Italy will takeover in the second half and defeat the great hosts, 2-1. Then, France wins 2-0 in the final, with zidaine going out on top of the world, a great story for the frenchman.

France was just awesome, as i posted long ago, april 25, france has a great defense, and they showed tonite, mackalele and viera were superb, and i didn;t notice anyone attacking the flanks, brazil didn't seem to have any plan and france had great patience. brazil didn't have a shot until extra time, just amazing!!! I think france vs. germany in the finals and france winning 2-1. an excellent cup pour les blues.

dont forget the mexican wc teams, not this years, but the previous teams might have been the biggest fakers and crybabys i ve ever seen on any pitch, it made me sick. henry's foul/flop was a risky move, his team got rewarded for it and there was some obstruction from puyol, but it happens in every game at some point, just have to deal with it and continue to play, or cry like the mexican teams.

the announcers for espn are just horrific, how many times do you hear, "all 64 games are available in high definition", and the men of the matchs are like they drew names out of a hat. in the us-ghana game, they had beasley and dempsey as the us stars, does one pass make you man of the match? ridiculous. i thought messing was about the worst i ve ever heard. all of them flip-flopo on their observations, it is just terrible. i like the univision announcers much better. the final eight is strong. france is looking good, spain did not create much on offense and looked very confused. the match with brazil will be a great match, too bad they are meeting in the quarters, as well as argentina-germany match, i cant wait. these last 19 days have been awesome, except the stupid announcers, great futbol.

ronaldo seems to be the beneficiary of playing in front of an incredible midfielders over the years and is a great finisher, but not best of all time. the frenchman, fontaine, scored 12 goals in one tourney, very impressive, mueller called him the greatest in his book in an interview after the bra-gha match. its tough to call one greatest in the world, speacially him, who still does not look totally fit.

what a big disappointment!! donovan was nowhere to be seen, and beasley was horrific,one good pass was about the only thing he did well during the whole round. after the italy match i thought we would have some fire in our hearts, but that was nowhere to be seen or felt, mcbride can hang his head high and our defense line wasn't too bad, but everyone else just didn't show up at all. now i m pulling for the italians and england, good luck lads. say goodbye to arena, he did a lot for us soccer but his time should end.

i think the announcers have to mention tiger's name every minute, whether he is playing or not, its a joke, there are other great golfers on the course and in the tourney that deserve respect and recognition, but its all about tiger. i bet nbc will have four specials during this weekend about tiger and his dad, all the while we're missing golf shots by professionals who are in the hunt for this great championship. it happens every weekend, 'what if' or 'tiger would have done this or that' , i m sick of it, if he is playing, thats fine, but if not leave him out of the conversation and talk about the present. dont get me wrong, he is the best, but everyone knows that, so dont jam it down our throats every mninute. i like monty or stricker this weekend

boys and girls, it's time, time to watch the most exciting event in the WORLD. for those not interested, too fking bad, its on and there's nothing you can do about it, so shut the hell up and watch something else and don't bother us. we are ready for the games to begin, three games a day of world class futbol, it s awesome baby...no commercial breaks for 45 mins, come on, you gotta love it, unlike the stupid nba, which is the slowest game, watching the final three minutes is liking wathing the grass grow, painful. i like our chances in the group, it will be tough but i think keller will be the mvp of the team. go usa

beasley needed a europe tour, his speed made him a star in 2002, but he needed some toughness, physical and mentally, and his europa experience will do that. i think he will do well in germany. I think our 4th ranking is a joke, we'll be lucky to get out of our group, if we do, i think we will have to face Brazil in the 2nd round, oh shit...but you never know.

Congrats to the mighty blues, a repeat in the EPL is a tribute to their team leaders, Terry, Lampard, Cole and Mackele(sp), who have been awesome all year in the league. I am a huge football fan and chelsea is one of my favs. Mourinho is a bit cocky, but it goes with the city that chelsea rules...they will have there hands full next year, aresenal and man u will be very good and liverpool wont suck so it will be an exciting epl, cant wait.

Wonderful player in his prime. Hopefully will lead 'les blues' to a strong 'coupe' run. France needs a strong performance this year. They are under the radar, but i think they will be strong. They have the best striker in world, Henry and a great defense. I can't wait for the tourney to begin.

Good point bigpoppav-these players are far from role models, I lived in Portland and watched the Trail Blazers lose all respect from a great fan base, no wonder Paul Allen wants his hands free of these selfish kids. I think we should send jr. and sr. college players to our olympic team and spare us from embarrassment, again.

Kiffin leaves Tennessee for USC
What a sham. As a Vol alum, it was hard enough to see Fulmer go, and we got behind Kiffin thinking of greener pastures in the near future, he was our 'cocky' coach and we gave him our support, trust and commitment. Now, he has thrown Vol nation under the bus and shown his true 'commitment'. I hope our recruits see him as nothing more than a used-car salesman selling a lemon, himself. Let's hope we hire someone with more character and commitment.
