Game stopped for several minutes by police spray.: Professional sport contests draw crowds large enough to alternatively attract or incite violence. What measures must be taken to prevent this violence...and what goes too far? (oh...and check out the ad on the ESPN.com page for Sega's NFL 2K3 game...curious coincidence?)
Which stunk the worst: the pepper spray, the Redskins offense, or the Redskins defense?

I was watching the game last night and it was pretty scary until they found out what it was. According to the Washington Post writeup, some of the Eagles players were throwing up blood on the sidelines.

I don't think you can ever prevent violence like this, people get passionate (and drunk) and things happen. It's unfortunate but I don't think it's a massive problem. Sitting around watching the game last night with some friends, one uttered the best line of the night - "Steve Spurrier coaches like he's playing NFL Blitz." Genius.

Did anyone see the slow-mo replay of Steve Spurrier doing that bizarre thing with his lips near the start of the second half? We have Tivo, so my wife and I watched it on slow-slow-mo. I laughed so hard tears were streaming down my face.

The game was so bad, I was hoping they could just call it after the pepper spray - and spare the 'Skins. Actually, I think it was the odor from Washington stinking up the joint. I certainly could smell it all the way up here in Boston.
