I thought he was just a cheerleader in college: "George Bush delivers illegal, but gratifying right hook to opposing ball carrier."

Hey, I'm not the biggest Bush fan or anything, but it is impossible to say exactly what happened during a play simply by a split-second photo. For all we know, Clumsy Bush missed the tackle and was just hanging on for dear life. The caption may just as likely have been added later by a newspaper editor who wasn't even at the game. I think that clucking, as the post does, about Bush's obvious Evil nature and that "character really is destiny" might be just a little bit of hyperbole. Regardless, it's a pretty funny link...

I was more suprised by the fact you lot play rugby

"unless Bush was well-known as a thug" -- has anyone seen my molehill? It was right here where this mountain is.

I was more suprised by the fact you lot play rugby Sure. A friend of mine plays in a gay league here in North Carolina.

BigCalm, by "we lot," do you mean North Americans? Because rugby was huge in Toronto growing up. Every high school had a team, and it was as popular as, say, basketball (and way bigger than hockey). Granted, that's Toronto. If that's the case in Luckenbach, Texas, I'd be shocked. As far as the link goes... well, gosh, that's totally changed my opinion of the sitting President. Cheap shot artist or scrawny back who can't make tackles? There's no applicable metaphor there whatsoever. Also, anyone who's ever done it knows you don't leave your feet to punch someone in the face. You lose most of your leverage. See? He was being compassionate in his cheapshottery. Remember that in November, kids.

If that's the case in Luckenbach, Texas, I'd be shocked. Well, maybe not Luckenbach (I didn't have you pegged as a Jerry Jeff Walker fan, chico), but my high school in Tulsa started a club rugby team about two years after I graduated. Baylor had both a guys and girls club rugby team all four years I was down there. Those fuckers know how to throw a party.

There was a really interesting article posted about college rugby in the USA a while back. Changed some of my conceptions, because I also had no idea that Americans actually played rugby. In other news, Bush is a twat.

I just pulled it out of my ass, Ufez. Small town in football country, the first name that came to mind. But now that you mention it, why, yes, actually I am fond of JJW, though I grew up listening to Waylon's version.

Truth be told, chico, I don't know JJW from anyone else. I was made aware that he exists by the girl with the oh so pretty legs in my freshman year Physics course when she asked me if I was going to see Jerry Jeff that weekend and I said "who the hell is Jerry Jeff?" and then she never spoke to me again. The next week I saw the shirts Everywhere and was made aware of the Luckenbach thing

I don't think that's a punch. You don't sucker-punch the ball carrier in any sport. You wait until the play, and the attention of the officials and fans, has moved on. Also, all of the motion and momentum in Bush's runty frame is pulling away from the carrier, which makes me think that photo depicts an attempt to grab the guy around the head that has failed because he ducked. Still, I have to give Shrub credit for playing rugby. That's certainly less embarrassing than the Archie of Riverdale High pictures of him as a cheerleader.

BigCalm: You mean you hadn't noticed US and Canadian teas show up for the World Cup? And one thing in that article is wrong: your feet are too allowed to leave the ground during a tackle. But you certainly aren't allowed to attack the head.

why do wingers score so many tries? because they're marked by other wingers. that explains bush's 'tackle' at least. if anyone can explain his foreign policy, please go ahead.
