Robert Kubica wins the Canadian Grand Prix.: Robert Kubica becomes the first Polish driver to win a Grand Prix, scoring BMW's first ever victory in the process. His teammate Nick Heidfeld made it a BMW 1-2 after Lewis Hamilton ended his and Kimi Raikkonen's race in a bonehead incident in the pitlane. A year ago, Kubica was lucky to leave Montreal with his life. This year he leaves it leading the drivers championship by four points. What a difference a year makes.

It was a good win. Made up for the disappointment at the Euros right after the race.

As an England fan I refuse to acknowledge Euro 2008;)

I shall be entertained by British press accounts of Hamilton's exit. They will, no doubt, blame it on UFOs or somesuch.

Hamilton was awesome. Was just watching ITV's coverage. "Ah, well, you see, he was unsighted and couldn't see the light..." Then the broadcaster conveniently cut to ANOTHER view clearly showing the BIG FLASHING RED LIGHT WELL ABOVE THE OTHER CARS. It's getting to be like Men in Black isn't it. "Some light reflected off some swamp gas..." It was the fault of those damned marmosets I tell ya! What a muppet. Then he swipes the camera away... I must now maliciously pimp my write up of the race, including blasting Lewis with both barrels. Don't read if you're a fan of Lewis.

Whitmarsh has confirmed he told Hamilton the red light was on and Hamilton has apologised to Raikkonen for the error and apparently accepted the fact that he'll be penalised as Magny Cours. Even the British press are going to struggle to blame someone else for that. (Not that they normally let facts obstruct their back pages.) I'm happy to put it down to some karma after the way Kimi killed Force India's chance at their first ever points at Monaco two weeks ago.
