Austin trades in 'Rider Pride for Ole Miss: Fifty-two days after leading the Saskatchewan Roughriders to their first Grey Cup title since 1989, Kent Austin has resigned as head coach of the CFL team......to accept a job as offensive co-ordinator of the University of Mississippi Rebels-the team for which he played quarterback from 1981 to 1985.

Home school or not he should have made a call to Tulsa before he accepted that position. This will not turn out good!

I woke up this morning and I heard that the Riders were going to sign him to a long term deal and then this.... I feel like I have been kicked in the groin.

hmmm ... this one has me shakin' my head a bit. The guy is like God all over Riderville. This one definitely broke a thousand hearts if it broke one. In the end, I'm not sure that this will hurt the Riders as badly as some might think. They've got a taste of victory. They now know what they can do, and how to get it done. That's why I'm gonna wager that they'll ultimately hire internally rather than go outside. Well, Cortez's name has circulated as a HC candidate many times before. Ah, heck ... I don't know. I'm not even a Rider fan, but this one does make me feel like my groin has been grazed (not a direct kick, but the graze that you know is "going to" hurt). Ah, the CFL ... you gotta love it!

In the past the problem with the Riders has not always been coaching but much rather the lack of talent on the roster, especially at QB. Where is Nealon Greene starting now? The other difference is that for the first time in many years, Saskatchewan is a destination that players and coaches want to be in. Thanks to Roy Shivers for building some of that but also for Eric Tillman to continuing that path. Al Ford was a nice guy and good money manager when things were bad but the difference is apparent all over the league. Still, Austin leaving hurts. At least it wasn't for another CFL team.

Pleasantly surprised to see all the disappointment among CFL fans. Not because I'm a sadist or anything, but you make me think Pete Boone has finally got something right at my Alma Mater. One coaching mistake after another for Ole Miss. The straw being that bloated circus clown, coach "o". Which, as we came to learn, is a fitting moniker for that swollen, pompas, lick-spittle, coon-ass. We should have never sold our soul to the Manning family and agreed to hire a head coach strictly as a recruiting tool for one, Eli Manning. Then after shear luck it turned out Cutty was a decent coach--after four years of on the job training--we shouldn't have fired him. ...but this guy He has actually won something... ...and as a head coach!! Look out SEC West Can I get a Hotty Totty?

Tulsa? I don't get it. The OC at Tulsa was Nutt's OC at Arkansas in 2006.
