Bob Sanders wins AP Defensive player of the year honors: Could a more deserving player win this award? Sanders' smash-mouth style of play makes him a joy to watch and indispensible to the Indy Defense.

Congrats to Bob Sanders for the award. I don't get a chance to watch Indy much but when I did he gave me a reason to watch the D as closely as the O. He did seem to be everywhere on the field and involved in most stops. The Colts can easily seem one dimensional from my out-of-market standpoint. Good for Bob giving opposing teams someone to fear on both sides of the ball.

This guy is the personification of why I like football. Watching the replays where they focus just on Sanders, how he sees what is transpiring on a particular play then attacks it is awesome. I don't recall having seen a better, more-sure tackler in all my years watching football. Hopefully he stays healthy and enjoys many more great seasons. The fact he's from Erie, PA. (right next door to me) is another plus in my book. Maybe he can visit Columbus, Ohio and teach the Buckeyes about finishing some tackles.

Playing at Iowa, I believe he did visit Columbus once.

Playing at Iowa, I believe he did visit Columbus once. I understand that. What I was refering to was Ohio State's inability to finish tackles like when LSU scored its first TD in the second half last night and wishing some of what Sanders understands about the fundemental was possessed by the Buckeyes. Pathetic tackling and exactly the point I turned the game off.

I understood the reference. I was just pointing that out in case anyone was unaware.

I became a Colts fan the day Sanders signed with them--the fact that Dallas Clark is there, too, just makes them more fun to watch for this Iowa fan. He was a lot of fun to watch in Iowa City--you could see teams becoming aware of him and designing schemes to stay the hell away from his part of the field.

Sanders is an incredible player. I've always admired that he has been able to play at an extremely high level even though he is smaller than just about everyone on the football field. His success is a testament to his skill and determination.
