Cool post apoch; this was really interesting to me. I had no idea how much of a hot button the franshise tag was (and still is). I see the frustrations of the many, but i have to agree in a sense with the author who points out that the FT helps many more than it hurts. It's kind of an economic seat-belt of sorts. thanks again apoch; i learned alot.

I'll second that ... it's both an interesting and informative article. It's an example of the kind of thing that I love about SpoFi. Along with lockerroom discussions like this one ... this is a hard site to beat!

Good read. I remember the turmoil (largely because God took Reggie White from the Eagles and sent him to Green Bay) but not all these details. They should call it the "Disenfranchised Tag".

Nice article- I always was a supporter of the franchise tag, but maybe it would be a good idea to change some things. For instance, they should allow contract extensions on top of that first "tag" year. This would give both the player and the franchise some stability.
