Dallas Cowboys interview Jason Garrett for offensive coordinator: Must have been one helluva meeting. Now the Jones boys are considering him as....head coach. It's been said Garrett is intelligent, but head coach?

I can't believe anyone associated with the current Dolphins offense is being considered for coaching jobs at any level above Pop Warner. But hey, if the 'Boys want him, they are welcome to him. (Please make sure to take the rights to Ricky Williams with you, Jason; he and TO would make beautiful music together.)

Why couldn't he be head coach? Because his only coaching experience is two seasons as QB coach with the Dolphins with not very impressive results. Dolphin QB stats the two seasons before Garrett's arival: 2003: Jay Fiedler - 57% completions = 23rd in the league and a QB rating of 72.4. 2004: A.J. Feeley - 53.7 completions = 33rd in the league (SF had 2 QB's that year earn stats) and a QB rating of 61.7. With Garrett's coaching: 2005: Gus Frerotte: - 52% completions = 30th in the league and a QB rating of 71.9. 2006: Joey Harrington - 57.5% completions = 22th in the league and a QB rating of 68.2. I know there are (MUST BE) other factors that play into these woeful numbers, coaching change(s), key injuries, but the numbers say Garrett had little to no impact bringing his guys to a higher level. It's all about results, and he didn't get them. I know the guy had pretty useless QB's to work with....but DAMN.

Why couldn't he be head coach? If it started as a meeting for a coordinator position and turned into this possibility, then it really must have been one helluva an interview. It's a stall tactic. The Dolphins gave Jerry a 24 hour deadline to make a deal for Garrett as Offensive Coordinator (from what I understand). His possiblity as a head coach doesn't qualify under those terms. I can't believe anyone associated with the current Dolphins offense is being considered for coaching jobs at any level above Pop Warner. But hey, if the 'Boys want him, they are welcome to him. Again, and this information gained from the whole - (ignore the Mavericks being the best team in the NBA and the fact that we hosted the NHL all-star game tonight) - local Jerry media circus, not a big shocker. Garrett's a former Cowboy that spent enough time on the sidelines as Aikman's backup that he gained a very good reputation as one of those "fast-track to head coaching guys" someday. I couldn't care less about the Cowboys, but the fact that Jerry is seemingly looking to sign an OC before addressing the head coaching issue speaks volumes. Have fun with another half decade of Gailey/Campo years, boys. Meh.

Until the Jones boys quit running the show, off & on the field Dallas will continue to be a 8 & 8 or 9 & 7 team. Turn the team over to Bill Cower & let him have total control, then we will see the real Cowboys.

2006: Joey Harrington - 57.5% completions = 22th in the league and a QB rating of 68.2. Joey Harrington? He has a career QB rating of 68.1. Not much to work with here, I think. As for as Frerotte, he has played for 13 seasons with a rating of 75.3. Granted, 71.9 is lower, but if Frerotte were Mr. Consistency, he wouldn't have played for 7 different teams in this time. Don't you think blaming Garret for these two is a little unreasonable? Give him some talent to work with and I think he'll be fine. That said, will he be a good head? A bad one? No-one knows. Myself, I think he'll be fine, but there is still the TO factor to think about. I mean look how well that went with both Reed and Parcells, and there's no debating whether or not they're good coaches.

Please, please, please never mention Marty Schottenheimer.....the Jones Boys may pick up on it and it would become reality. I would then have to slit my throat to stop the puking!!

It is Cowher not Cower, ok? The Titans have told the Cowboys "No way!" as far as Jeff Fisher is concerned. They just gave him a contract extension.

I still thing he could save a lot of money and spare an experienced coach a lot of hassle by just making TO coach.

They just gave him a contract extension. The Titans exercised their 2007 option for Fisher. They still haven't reached an agreement on a long-term contract.

I still thing he could save a lot of money... Bah. He could make money. Make TO head coach and ESPN would cast "TO on TO" tomorrow. He could host a summer reality show to select a new PR person, new cheerleaders, and new offensive and defensive coordinators, all in one show! He'd have the first head coach's radio show that people actually tuned into. And he could sell not just TO jerseys, but TO motorola headsets! Branding, people, branding...

No big-name coach with prospects elsewhere would come to Dallas and work with a newly hired offensive coordinator who wasn't his own guy. This move means the Parcells experiment is over and we're back to has-beens (Switzer), never-weres (Gailey) and current employees (Campo). The 11-year streak without a Cowboys playoff victory is in no danger.
