Buckeyes on probation: Because of their use of an ineligable player the buckeyes have to remove their 1999 final four banner and pay $800k.

This getting to be a disturbing trend going on with Big Te(leve)n basketball. Michigan got hit with fines and sanctions like this for violations in the '90s.

Wingnut I don't think your a bad person and frankly I do find your posts interesting but do you have to include a link in every single one!?!

I felt bad because no one else commented... sorry?

And about the link inclusion (is that politically correct?), I just have this thing about: a) Trying to cover my ass with an overload of info. b) If it's some kind of cartoon, I'm just trying to get a laugh out of people. It's my favorite past time.

Please ease up on Wingnut, Ying Yang. You two help a great deal to spice up my cyber sports life. Maybe because I married a Michigander, I could get in trouble for this, but I believe Michigan could have had their entire basketball program shut down and it wouldn't have been enough punishment for their 90's crap. Oh golly, the pain Ohio State must feel for having to take down their '99 final four banner, and the $800,000 must be close to half the take for a home game. Why not make the coaches do a lap or two around the practice gym or write "I will never get caught cheating again" twenty five times in long hand. Then, make one of them find a dictionary and look up the word PUNISHMENT. That should scare them suckers into toeing the line from now on.

No I'm not trying to be mean because I have enjoyed many of wingnut's links its just the links to the players that he talks about that bother me (however, you could call this a pet peeve so there is no need to alter your lifestyle).

Good column on this in the Chicago Sun-Times. Once again, this punishment has the feel of the famous "so mad at Kentucky, they gave two more years to Cleveland State" comment Jerry Tarkanian rolled out. As Bud mentioned, Ohio State can fart out $800K, especially when you consider that they may end up paying O'Brien more than 10 times that amount. When you consider the self-imposed penalties, even those are weak. I think it's pretty easy to take your team out of tournament contention when you're coming off a 14-16 season.

As a huge Buckeye fan I am not to concerned. We are going to do a lot of damage in this year's tourney and we will be the best in years to come. We are bringin in the best recruiting class ever. Oden, Lighty, Conley, Cook, and Young. We also got a fabulous coach in Thad.

Clevelander, OSU should never be too concerned, since big programs like yours tend to have the NCAA in your back pocket. Not hatin' the player, just the game.
