Football terms from around the world.: The Guardian's The Knowledge makes me laugh with football terms that describe tricks and other phenomena. Which one did you like best? Have any of your own?

In Indonesia, you don't score, you 'print' (mencetak) a goal. And the keeper is sometimes referred to as the 'guardian of the net' (penjaga gawang). That last term is available for use by the SpoFi pantheon, by the way.

This is so Germanic: Anschlusstreffer - the goal that reduces the deficit to one (eg brings the score to 2-1 rather than 2-0). Similarly Japanese: Jisatsu-ten ("suicide point") = own goal Brinca-na-areia: Jose Antonion Reyes Great link.

I liked the Czech "Bundesliga" as a reference to "mullet hairstyle" ... makes me think of Rudy Voeller.

In similar vein, I seem to recall Rudi Voller's nickname among German fans was 'Auntie', from the hairstyle making him look like an old woman

Le saut de grenouille ("frog's jump") - clasping the ball between both feet and jumping over the outstretched leg of an opponent.Argh, what was the name of the Mexican guy that did that in the world cup? It's on the tip of my tongue...

"Klinsmann." That's the name soccer fans everywhere call a player who flops to the turf every time that player moves into the penalty box -- contact or not.
