You know you've got quite a program when you lose a single regular season non-conference game and people make a big deal about it.

duke isnt going to go very far in the tournement they rely on perimeter shooting waaay to much my final four = west virginia , texas , and two other teams that i shall not name yet hahaha

Don't hate the player hate the game. All you Duke haters that have an IQ of about 3 go ahead and storm the floor because you beat Duke in a game. Everyone does it because they know deep down that their program is nowhere near the Duke program and everyone gets lucky once in a while. To my knowledge the final 4 is in March not January. GO BLUE DEVILS!!!

My program beat Duke 3 out of the last 4 times. My program beat Duke the last time they played for the conference title. My program won the national title in 2002, or one year more recently than Duke. See if you can guess my program? Sincerely, Hater witn an IQ of about 3

Don't hate the player hate the game. All you Duke haters that have an IQ of about 3 I don't hate the player or the game, I hate cliches. People with IQs of 3 generally pull them out. I'm guessing you don't actually go to duke. Call it a hunch.

drjimmy11 That would be UMD. Although, the last game in Durham you didn't look too good.

Very interesting day in college basketball when Nos. 1 and 2 take it on the chin. It's even sweeter that my Tennessee Vols took down Florida! Here's to a very interesting March!

1 loss and this guy is having a fit. Whats next? If Duke lose's again are you going to kick everyones ass? Naaaa. One loss and he only drinks himself into a stupor and sells Google stock. Two losses and he will yell at his secretary and write a brusque letter to the President of Duke and demand he fire Coach K before he embarasses the school any longer. But I doubt this guy is a Duke graduate. If he was, he wouldn't have used IQ as a measurement. He would have used the GMAT.

Winning big-time D-1 college basketball games on the road is one of the toughest things to do in sports. The top teams in any poll always have a big target painted on them, and a loss here or there won't automatically translate into future (tournament) failure. Duke will be fine.

I jumped for joy when the Hoyas won. We haters don't like this Blue Devils team for a reason...they are so egoloaded. My goal is to see them fall out of the top 25 and stay off. It was realized once. That though was a long time ago. We must stop them even more. My hats go off to Georgetown.

posted by starfire15 at 01:29 PM on January 22, 2006

Duke will be fine. Georgetown didn't get lucky - they played a hell of a game and even then it wasn't over until the buzzer. I hate it when Duke loses, but it's not the end of the world. What do you mean, this year's team is egoloaded? JJ can talk a little trash every now and then (I haven't seen it as much as I did last year) but that's about as far as it goes. I kinda wish we had someone with a little more attitude at times. And I don't think anyone takes the GMATs anymore. GRE's, MCAT's, LSAT's, yeah.

posted by mbd1 at 01:42 PM on January 22, 2006

Why do you think Duke is egoloaded starfire15? They just believe that they can and should win every game they play. You seem more interested in seeing Duke fail than seeing your team succeed. I think most "Duke haters" are such because they win so much. The fact that there are so many Duke haters is a compliment to their program- it just shows how successful they have been over the years. I mean if they were a mediocre team, playing .500 ball then nobody would care or talk about Duke other than their fans.

In that case humans why don't you enroll and learn how to make an educated addition to the discussion. Just like you did , right yingyang? Way to advance the discussion. Stop picking at people and add something to the topic. He was obviously being sarcastic. Are you the sportsfilter police? I have been here about a week and have yet to read anything from you that was about the topic onboard. Who got fired from sportsfilter and made you critic of all message boards?

posted by BlogZilla at 08:00 PM on January 22, 2006

I tried to do this using humour, but it obviously isn't working. If you guys wish to slag each other's teams off, go find another website. We want this place to be a refuge from that sort of thing, where we can discuss sports constructively and with a minimum of personal abuse. The use of punctuation is also a mark of respect for people who may wish to read your opinions. Read the posting guidelines was the point I tried to make earlier.

I think the creation of Duke-haters isn't the result of Duke winning all of the time. It is the result of the announcers and sports personalities constantly sweating the team and Coach K without any let up. They are good, but they have won one championship in the last (more than) ten years. So, as soon as we can stop being inundated with the constant praise of how great Duke is, then maybe some of us haters will not be happy when they inevitably lose.

Great game by the Hoyas! I was in San Fran at the time on the way to wine country so I missed the game. Saw the highlights on the flight home and was impressed by the Hoyas use of JT III's Princeton-style offense (or is it un-impressed by Duke's defense?). Jeff Green shut down Sheldon Williams in the paint which forced Reddick to carry the team. Kind of disappointed to see all the unbeatens fall, though.

Who got fired from sportsfilter and made you critic of all message boards? I was appointed last week. What people do have to remember is that no team has gone undefeated since UNLV so Duke still has an excellent chance at the championship.
