A Fifth Column? : Or Not?

A sports team exec calling on athletes to get rid of their agents is like a polluter calling for the end of the Environmental Protection Association. What ulterior motive could he possibly have for encouraging young jocks with limited life experience to negotiate complex contracts without personal representation? The mind boggles.

“The union would represent each player with unquestioned competence and could also take into account the best interests of the industry, on behalf of ALL of the players,” Kasten said. “Right now, each agent just cares about his individual negotiation - and his commission.” I laughed.

It's the leagues fault. No, it's the owners fault. What! It's the players fault. Naw, it's the Union's fault. Wait, I got it, it's the players agents fault. NHL participants at all levels, please, we been hearing this crap from you guys for the past 20 years and this fan is tired of hearing it from all of you. You've diluted the quality of your product expanding way beyond the talent pool. National television wants nothing to do with your product and some of us are still pissed about losing an entire season. You made rule changes year after year to cover your significant deficit in High Quality Players and you can't get past your own egos. I guess it's really my fault (Fan) for continuing to tolorate this crap but I can't help it. I really love this game. My Bad

I guess it's really my fault (Fan) for continuing to tolorate this crap but I can't help it. I agree. I also like hockey but it comes in 3rd behind baseball and football for me. Sometimes when I read the hockey threads I get the feeling all other sports should be outlawed for somehow being inferior. I do hope hockey gets all their problems solved. I also hope the Blues do gooder so I can get interested again.

STLCardinalfan I know the Blues have their problems but try being a BlackHawks fan married to a RedWings fan. :(

Blues and Rams were/are enough disappointment for me this year. Add to that the Astros' pitching shutting down my world-series-bound Cards and it's, oh well, wait until next year...

The Blackhawks still have fans? It's so sad what the current ownership has done to that team.

The Blackhawks still have fans? Yeah, but they only come to see the Red Wings beat the crap out of them (and I'm not kidding, I think they have had two sellouts, both loses to the Red Wings).
