Darts - Sport or Not a Sport?:

You have got to be kidding? I think drinking beer should be an olympic sport so I can get one of those gold medels. They won't let bowling in, what makes anybody think darts belongs anyplace besides the bar.

If they get rid of the targets and make it a kind of team dart fighting with tranquilizers or poison on the darts...I think about it then.

Not.

I'll say sport, not athletes.

Darts is every bit as much a sport as hopscotch, curling, billiards, lawn bowling, croquet and golf.

Yep - by that standard Darts is a sport. It's a lot like curling - which is a non-athlete sport that incorporates a shitload of drinking.

Darts is not a sport Darts is not a sport. Websters dictionary defines sport: that which amuses;diversion;pastime;merriment;object of jest;mockery;outdoor game or recreation of atheletic nature.

sempd5, you should understand that we have been doing these sport/not threads for awhile. An inside joke to some extent, please take it in that regard.

Darts: not a sport Dart throwers: not atheletes

Shooting is a sport, and so is archery. So, now you throw a dart and it isn't?? It's called a target sport, and it is played by atheletes. It requires hand-eye coordination, concentration, reflexes, and strategy. One could even argue that it is more demanding than some of the "Run in a straight line" events.

Okay, fine then. Shooting: not a sport Shooters: not athletes Unless they're participating in a biathalon at the time. Like bill says (this?), the designation thing is an old inside joke here. Arguing with it is pointless.

Is arguing about whether something is a sport a sport? I think I pulled something.

I'm a sport, and so's my wife.
