"It's going to hurt [my routine] big time": The NBA tells Vince Carter that he can't listen to his iPod while warming up. He's going to have to change his routine. 14.3 ppg worth of routine.

Screw the iPod thing... it was just refreshing to hear what he said at the end of the article: "Right now we've got a lot of guys scoring. By me taking 25 or 30 shots -- for what? That's disrupting a team. I've never ever cared about numbers. I'm hearing for the first time what I'm averaging. I don't care. I'm trying to get this team to the playoffs, get deep in the playoffs, get back to where we were in 2000, 2001. That's what it's all about right now."

He will find ways to stand out, even if it's not his scoring game.

snarks - let's hear what is on VC's iPod! ABBA - Take a Chance on Me Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me) Morrissey - I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday

Are they trying to out un-fun the NFL? Even the No Fun League lets guys warm up with headphones on. What possible justification could they have for such a uniform rule?

snarks - let's hear what is on VC's iPod! Neil Sedaka - Greatest Hits Volume III. Which is kind of sad, actually, since that's the greatest hits package that Neil released merely for beer money. And I just found out that Bob Dylan really likes Neil Sedaka.

Surely Vince wasn't the only one using them? I'd be surprised. It does seem like a pretty stupid ruling though.

What possible justification could they have...? Marketing conflicts between an NBA sponsor and Apple? I'm about 100% positive it has nothing to do with actually listening to music on headphones during the pregame, because that makes absolutely no sense.

So... someone get him a generic mp3 player, electrical tape over the logos, and let him go. Unless people are yelling at him to get off the court because the game's about to start. Hm. The Smiths - You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby? James Taylor - Carolina In My Mind? Animals - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood?

What? I'm surprised that nobody mentioned this obvious playlist entry: The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go

"Brickhouse" by The Commodores would be most fitting this season.
