Rays win their 12th straight: Screw the Yankees and the Sox, the Devil Rays are going to rule the AL East. Last night's win was their 12th in a row, and they are now 23-6 in their last 29 games. They are now just one game under 500. Ray's Talk notes that the last team that was 18 games under 500 and then reached 500 was the 1899 Louisville Colonels. Despite early futility, this is a great accomplishment. They've got some help down on the farm as well.

It's a feel good story. The DRays are hot! Pinella did say, maybe even guarantee, that the Devil Rays would not finish last in the division. I really thought they were close to imploding a few weeks back when Lou just left Zambrano in the game to dangle against the Sox. The middle and end of the division really surprised me this year, so far. Orioles were supposed to be fantastic, and yet they roll over and die every time they play the Yankees (much to my dismay). Toronto just didn't get it together for one reason or another. Still have a lot of baseball to play.

It's a feel good story. Depends on where you live.

It's the Zimmer effect.

Kudos that they're having a great streak and that people are getting excited about them; however... Screw the Yankees and the Sox, the Devil Rays are going to rule the AL East. Well, anything's possible; as the sage said, it don't matter what you're doing when the leaves are green, it matters what you're doing when the leaves are turning brown. Anybody could be anywhere in October, but I have to say, nobody is going to "rule the AL East" from a game below 500. Not anytime soon. (Yes, that number to beat is .647...)

Yes, of course, I just said that to rile up the baseball fans in the northeast. Who knows though, anything could happen if the streak continues they could be only a few games back in a couple of months.

At least the Jays have one all-star.

Yes, of course, I just said that to rile up the baseball fans in the northeast. i think at this point, we're getting used to people telling us to screw off or fuck off or some variation on that idea. :D

FUCK! Ya know, it's already hard being a baseball fan in this country - being called everything from 'idiot' to 'faggot' (okay, mostly that's what my brother calls me - but he likes Monster Garage, so we're about quits there). cuz I wanna watch a little baseball. It doesn't help that a team that hit 190 homers and was the second best hitting team in the majors last year; this year has 3 starting pitchers with ERAs under 4 and still IS IN LAST FREAKING PLACE. I mean, injuries are one thing, but this is ridiculous. 3 quick hits: 1-Hinske appears to be a total bust, a one-year wonder. 2-Bullpens need roles. 3-Howie Clark seems like a really nice guy - but I shouldn't know his name.

For anyone still listening, Tampa's winning streak came to an end in 10 innings last night. Great game, too.
