The Raiders have one of the toughest 2019 schedules in the league, they've banished their scouting and development staffers from the upcoming draft, the front office is still regrouping after the departure of Reggie McKenzie, the owner is periodically strapped for cash, and the head coach seems stoked to be playing a new interactive game called NFL Spurrier 2.0

Good luck boys.

3 or 4 wins and the season can be considered a gigantic success. Gruden is dong a great job of blowing enough smoke to fool everyone associated with the Raiders into thinking he's a great football mind. He probably has another 3 years before they realize what they have got themselves into.

Jeez. Ovechkin doesn't handle a loss very well, does he?

Most true winners don't.

I haven't seen many 'true winners' commit obvious penalties after a game is clearly lost, and when called for one of the penalties they proceed to openly mock the officials.

Ovechkin's sarcastic applause didn't look like a 10-minute misconduct to me. There's 68 seconds left and the game is 5-2. Swallow the whistle.

But that's not all that he did. Towards the end of the game, he was all sticks and elbows at the Hurricanes players and finally got called on a hooking play. He was also taunting Hamilton/the Hurricanes bench by do a chicken flapping its wings at them. Then he taunted the officials and yelled a bunch a shit at them after getting called for a penalty. I'm not sure how you swallow your whistle after all of that.

Any Russian operating in the nation's capital is understandably on edge and not quite their usual self at the present time.

The ref blew a call that prevented the game from being tied. Ovechkin is a competitor and was pissed. A good official realizes the situation and swallows the whistle.

I'd hate him if I was a fan of the current opposition as well ... he's one hell of a big game player.

So you're OK with a pissed off player skating around, mocking other players, committing penalties on those other players, and mocking the on ice officials. He got called on a penalty and he lost his mind.

And the no-goal call wasn't blown. It was upheld by the video review team up in Toronto.

Listen, I have no problem with the Scott Stevens's of the NHL. Sure, some of his big hits were considered borderline dirty, but that is the playoffs for you; push at the edges of what is acceptable. And I say that as a fan of a team that got run roughshod by him in the 2001 playoffs. But what Ovechkin did last night at the end of the game was dumb. He let those other guys get in his kitchen and he couldn't handle it.
