"Every Thang's Going To Be All White." : After failed attempts to persuade a local school to change its mascot, a group of American Indian Students in Colorado decided to offer a different perspective, naming its intramural hoops team "The Fighting Whities."

The server appears to have crashed, but a Colorado newspaper has a longer story with a picture of the logo. I want one of these shirts. Go Whities!

Heh, that's great. I love it. (said as a 'whitey'). Maybe they should have named themselves 'the colonizers' or something. just to push the caricature a little farther. Or maybe 'whiteskins'. [btw the greeley tribune site seems to be down too. here's another link to a story with a picture.]

I know its just an intramural team and all that, but surely they could have made a better logo.

better schmetter. the 50's icon is perfect. the only improvement I can think of is if it was a pro team.

"Fighting Honkeys" maybe might have been even better. Even that, though, probably wouldn't elicit anything but chuckles from white folks. I think we're supposed to be taking this seriously as a statement, but it's way too silly for that.

The 'Creeping Crackers' would have been nice.

Yeah, but can they play ball? They're gonna look pretty silly if they lose alot.

"Fighting whities" is not at all offensive, but perhaps if they called the team the "Lynching Whities" with a picture of a guy holding a noose, then that might be a problem.
