Little chance of success?: The Red Sox picked a new manager today. Well, at least now they have one. Anybody think this will make a difference.

"The reaction in the clubhouse was jubilant," (team president) Lucchino said. "It was in small part relief, but in large part attributable to Grady Little." I have decided to interpret that sentence as the few Red Sox who were worried that Peter Gammons was going to be their manager are now relieved, and that for the most part only Grady Little is jubilant.

Nothing against Grady Little, but Boston is not the place for a rookie manager.

Little, coming from Cleveland, should be better than Felipe "Walks are for sissies" Alou; I think this is a good move for the Red Sox, despite the concern that "Boston is no place for a rookie manager" (unless you mean to protect the sanity of said manager, i can't imagine why Boston wouldn't be the place for the man judged to be qualified for the job).

Alou should have been the sox new manager, new regime same stupidity. Uh, why? Little was the Sox bench coach for three years, has a good a resume as anyone without major league experience (which shouldn't be a bar to managing unless you think major league playing experience should be required for all rookies) and is close with a number of important players on the Sox, including Manny. The idea is that he's someone who can handle the Boston media, calm down the clubhouse and even manage a game or two.
