Not funny at all.: I beg to differ

I'm with you garfield. Bare ass is funny. Period. It's even funnier when you're baring it to the royal family of Monaco. Although I would assume extra bonus funny points would have been awarded if it were Great Britain's royal family. Does anyone know if the theme from Benny Hill was played during the victory lap?

....the camera speed was amped up as well.

Bah. Whatever. You want attention, son? Drop your shorts before your vault.

Now if only this was the de rigeur methos of celebrating wins on the WTA. Or just points.... 15 - love.... Nice... Apologies to JGirl before she even shows up. And one of the Achesons. The girl one.

Great stuff... There should be more nakedness, not less!

I swear it seems like people block-out fun childhood memories...and in the interest of what, I have no idea.

Can't he just claim he was getting amped up in the spirit of the original Olympic games?

Two points: 1) If we're going to run around condemning sportswriters (raised middle finger inserted here), please give credit to this scribe, who said that prize money would be stripped from our bare-assed vaulter. Ahem. 2) Before we give sanction to this celebration in the hopes it will be adopted by all, here are a few mental images to consider.

Clemens Prokop is the condemned here.

What I'd like to know is which IAAF rule he violated that would cause him to lose his prize winnings. I mean, why stop there? Why don't they take away his medal, too? I'd really love to see the rule that backs up this decision. It would be so cool if the authorities were em-bare-assed by a final ruling that said essentially "We can't do anything. There's no rule against it." Meanwhile, doping continues unabated.

Shoot for the moon, Lobinger! They should give him an award. I mean, how many times will you see "Germany" and "flamboyant behavior" in the same sentence? ;-)

Obligatory link to previous thread on ugly athletes. You know, to complete wfrazer's warning.

The officials are making asses of themselves. They will be the butt of jokes for years to come. I mean, the cheek of these people to think they can regulate celebratory behavior.

Who reared these people?

EPSN.com is a bunch of wussies for not posting the photo of this celebration.

wc2002: Yeah, they must be on crack. They are so behind the times.

Anyone want to discuss the aerodynamics of actually vaulting naked? Didn't think so.

posted by kloeprich at 07:24 PM on September 15, 2003

Well, if you timed it right, farting while vaulting naked might actually give you that little boost that you need. Now, if you had pants on, that boost might be somewhat ... muted.

I think it should be mandatory to say 'wahey' when mooning royals.

posted by gspm at 01:07 AM on September 16, 2003

There is a picture on the BBC page about the story. Wahey.

Stinkin' Flamboyant German! (its a stereotype in some other dimension, or something) I'm glad this guy isn't capitulating to the IAAF threat of 'not allowing' him to 'escape unpunished.' And wc2k2, I'd like to see the TP the 'non-lunar rule' is written on as well.

Sportsfilter: Shouting "wahey" at the general public.

posted by wfrazerjr at 10:33 AM on September 16, 2003

Nice pic, gspm! Kudos to the BBC, that kinda stuff would never get on a newpaper here in the uptight US. btw, nice lobes, Lobinger. Hahahahahahahaha.

Nice to see someone (BBC) has balls but then again there is no visible crackage. WAHEY!!!!
