It only took two games for me to love the new Jags helmets. I like how the whole look of the uniform changes based on which direction players are facing. It introduces some pleasant weirdness, and since no one else is doing it makes them distinct. It also gives the team a new unofficial nickname -- the Two Tones -- and the matte black on the front half is the bomb diggity.

Dustin Keller is out for the season after tearing basically every ligament in his knee. D.J. Swearinger, the rookie who hit him, suggested that he hit low because going high is going to get you a fine.

What's the status on a SportsFilter fantasy football league? I need seven teams for an ESPN league I'm running, but I don't want to be a claim jumper on an existing league here.

A-Rod is stupid, but Ryan Dempster is an asshole. Now Ryan Fucking Dempster is the spokesperson for baseball players? Nothing I hate more than pitchers who don't come to bat versus American League pitchers throwing intentionally at someone. He should have been thrown out and fined.

Dempster should have been ejected.

From the reddit thread about the plunking, someone posted this vaguely related video of Ryan Dempster doing a hilariously dead-on impression of Harry Caray.

I apologize for my recent comment language. I was only a little less amped than Girardi was.

For the record, Dempster has thrown nearly 2,100 innings in the NL vs. 200 in the AL. If this was a pattern of behaviour, rather than a one-off, he'd have faced redemption a lot more than he didn't.

That said, this comment from Rodriguez is mind-bogglingly tone-deaf:

''Whether you like me or hate me, what's wrong is wrong,'' he said of being hit. ''That was unprofessional and silly.''
