An Outspoken Punter Finds Himself Out of Work: Kluwe, who gained national attention last fall for his support of same-sex marriage, figured his time in Minnesota was coming to an end when the Vikings chose Jeff Locke, a U.C.L.A. punter/kicker, in the fifth round of the N.F.L. draft.

I'm happy to see an article push the financial side - Locke will cost about $400,000 this year - and the stats - bottom half of the league in several areas - as other places, like Yahoo, (surprise surprise), seem to be intent on shouting "Vocal Gay Rights Supporter Cut From Team! NUDGE NUDGE."

I suspect he'll end up enjoying a new city, making slightly less than the Vikes were going to give him this year.

He's not that good of a kicker, so this comes as no surprise. I like what Kluwe writes, it's entertaining, but the Vikings ranked pretty low in punting last year.

Kluwe clever. Locke makes the team and has a decent rookie season.

Then he gets to punt outdoors in Minneapolis Decembers for two years.

His foot is gonna holler mercy.

Meanwhile, Kluwe could find himself being offered priority access to the Matt Leinart Commemorative Hot Tub.

So ... how about Chris Klewe and Tim Tebow on the same roster. Naw, that wouldn't be too much of a media circus ...
