Boxer Orlando Cruz: I'm a 'Proud Gay Man': Orlando Cruz, 31, the fourth-ranked featherweight in the world, announced this week that he's gay. "I have always been and always will be a proud gay man," he said. "I want to be me. I want to be Orlando Cruz, and I don't want to pretend." Cruz faces Jorge Pazos in his next bout Oct. 19 in Kissimmee, Fla.

Just reading the headline, I'd have to say this guy is an absolute hero.

Bracing for the horrible puns about his next fight being in Kissimmee...

Good for him! I still don't understand the facination with what people do in their own bedroom/private life.

God judges by how you lived your life, not what others thought of you. Just my opinion.

/please, don't quote the bible on me.

I assume when he weighs in as a featherweight, someone's holding his balls so they don't tip the scales. Because there's no way those babys are anything other than huge brass tonnage.

"BIBLE"

sry steelergirl, I couldn't help myself. Putting the bible in quotes is about all any of these " it was my god givin talent not me" athletes that annoy me. If its all "god given talent" why bother practicing? Why study film on your competition? Why have actual plays designed to confuse the opposition? After all isn't that god givin talent good enough to win?

/end rant
