Taking just a moment to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made on that horrific day 11 years ago. I know this post isn't directly sports related, but thanks to you all for being here.

The Monday Night Football game with the Giants the night before saved a lot of lives. A bunch of people bound for the WTC left for work late.

Indeed. I have a friend who is alive today because he overslept and was late for work.

Blessings and comfort to those left behind. If you know someone who died that day, if you'd like, tell us a story about that person. Tell us a little bit about their life.

Ruth Lapin, a former co-worker when I still lived in NJ and wife of my first real mentor, was a huge Broadway musical fanatic. Worse than me and Liverpool! She saw Les Mis several times a year every year from its opening and was a seat warmer at the Tonys.

My cube-mate at work had a brother working construction in lower Manhattan that day. My cube-mate couldn't get hold of his brother, and was a frantic wreck until late afternoon, when his brother finally called. The brother had been near the towers, but as soon as the first aircraft hit, he started walking north in a state of shock, and didn't stop until several hours later. For me, the project I was working on suddenly became a priority for our customers, and we were going full-tilt until I retired. Three people from my then employer were killed that day; one in an aircraft and two at the Pentagon.

The worst Red Sox teams of the last 30 years.. Worth a read even just for, "Roger Clemens moved to the Houston suburb of Toronto after the '96 season".

Yeah, and the term "confirmed bullpen arsonist" for the Heathcliff Slocumb era. Nice article.
