Got Stamkos? : All the talk – of an offer sheet, of a possible trade to the Philadelphia Flyers – all of that went up into the ether, when the Tampa Bay Lightning came to terms on a new 5-year contract with restricted free agent Steven Stamkos, one of the rising stars in the NHL. Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman had insisted all along that the 2 sides would find a way to forge an agreement, mainly because Stamkos wanted to stay in Tampa and Tampa wanted him as part of their young nucleus going forward.

It's too bad the Lightning couldn't hold on to Bergenheim after his playoff performance. It will be interesting to see how he pans out for the Florida Panthers. The other question the Lightning will need to address is their goaltending. Dwayne Roloson isn't getting any younger.

$7.5 Million is very fair for a player who's only going to get better, and will go a long way towards building a long-term contender.

They really need out from under Lecavalier and Ohlund though, those deals are killing them.
