Japan Baseball League to Play Despite Crisis: Japan's Central League is starting its baseball season on schedule on March 25, despite objections from the player's union and another league. The Pacific League, which has the Rakuten Golden Eagles based in hard-hit Sendai, has postponed its season until April 12. "The players' consensus is that it is inappropriate to start the season when we think of those who were killed, still missing and those staying in evacuation shelters," said union head Takahiro Arai. "It's just too early."

The J-League is taking a month's break. Also no international football for Japan.

Last I read that while the next friendly at home is canceled in Japan, their next friendly, played overseas, is still on.

In an ironic twist, their opponent is New Zealand.

Morbid, but it could be called the Quake Derby.

It's not in poor taste unless/until someone cues up "Ring of Fire".
